You say they had an inflexible manner? I'm curious to find out what answer would have been acceptable to you?

My acceptable answer would have been for them to send me out another bill with a bank slip on the bottom so that i can pay cash at the bank, as usual, and that they would waive a late charge under the circumstances. surely not that difficult.

I think that seeing as the problem is of your own making (YOUR dog ate the bill) you need to do as they have suggested to do and pay by the other methods they have stated. They have given you a solution you have chosen to not use it.

You are being inflexible by not using another payment method

So its my fault that the dog located and ate the bill is it! I am not being inflexible, I cannot pay by debit card dont have one, and have only money in the bank JUST ENOUGH for electric bill. To take it for this would cause overdrawn and incur a further charge, so as I said these methods are not an option., I have not chosen not to use their other payment options, I actually cannot. This is what I am trying to say!

Also I pay by cash always,at the bank.

They do have other payment options! Why cant you use telephone banking? Send a cheque? Go into the bank and make a payment without the slip - all you need to give them is MBNA's Sortcode & Account number which is on the back of your statement

I cannot send a cheque, not enough funds, it would go overdrawn.

Indeed and you have internet access so why not pay online  or go into the bank and BACS a payment across? Not that hard surely?

And as I said you can now phone them and make an automated payment over the phone using a debit card (BEFORE the bill is due) and avoid the charges. :)

I can't pay online I don't have a debit card!! Ah though what is a BACS payment? that might be the answer, thanks, could you enlighten me further? many thanks.

It sounds to me like an excuse (and a lame one at that), particular as you refused to pay by other (faster) means.
Now, who's got the inflexible manner???

Why can't you pay in a way that doesn't take an an additonal two weeks? That extra time was probably the thing you are after.

It isn't an excuse bengal if i knew how to scan it i'd show it on here! then you'd see. The thing is that they offer an option to pay at a bank using the giro slip across the bottom and this is the method i am able to use. I don't need 2 weeks extra, i actually have the money (cash) to go and pay at the bank!

Ahh thank you I will do this very thing today. Previously the bank had said they can't! SO i will go to a different bank armed with this knowledge.

Or why not pay the cash into your bank account and send a cheque?
