Ace is andoird I believe, you can turn mobile data off and just leave wifi on ensuring it should never go in to your allowance, if you do leave them on check wireless is connected by looking for the wireless sign at the topYes Your Dukeiness

In my phone I can't switch 'wireless' on/off (well, I can switch all wireless services off by activating Airplane Mode).please can anyone tell me: if I switch wireless on on my mobile phone, does it automatically only use the wireless broadband I connect to and not use up my (250 megabytes) monthly allowance?
I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace.
I can switch on/off independently WiFi, Bluetooth, Mobile Data etc.
If both Mobile Data and WiFi are on, it automatically connects to my router and stops using Mobile Data.0 -
I think OP means "WIFI" when he says "wireless"
If you have WIFI switched on and the phone is connected to the WIFI it will use WIFI in preference to data.
But it is safest to turn data off (as reehsetin says), when you are passively using WIFI eg at home. That way if the WIFI goes down for any reason, it won't switch back to data when you are not using the phone eg the phone could use data to update something while your WIFI was down.
Unless you want it to do this.0 -
Thanks for these replies. This [and the phone] is all new to me.Do I switch off packet data to turn off data please?0

I think it has to be called 'Mobile data'. Yes, if you switch it off, you'll be able to connect to the internet over WiFi only.0

Thanks. Under mobile networks I have the following options to tick or not:
Use packet data; data roaming; Access Point Names; Use only 2 G networks; Network Operators.
Am I right in thinking that packet data must be the one to shut off?0 -
Yes, you are right.0
