Well I have just been given the run around and after ringing that number and being given 2 others numbers to ring they assure me its for new customers only.

Is there any chance you can scan or take some pictures of the leaflet so we can look at it please?

    Thanks in advance.

I am a Sky + subscriber and my contract runs out on 16th june. I wanted another sky + box in another room in my house so i contacted sky to cancel so they would offer me a deal for another sky+ box. I got a new sky+ box for £49.99 i arranged installation for the multi room and was happy. When the engineers came to install the new box they said i would need a new dish as i live in flats and they couldn't work on the current dish as it is a communal one and sky didn't put it up. They told me to contact sky. I contacted sky and they said to get multiroom i would have to contact the council to get permission for a new dish. I explained to the lady that i didn't want it anymore i just wanted a refund. She told me my money would be refunded. I asked her to put me through to the cancellations department as i wanted to cancel my account ( thinking i would see what else they would offer as i got nowher with multi room). When i spoke to the lady there and explained what had happened i asked her what other deal sky would offer me to stay as a customer she just said we cannot offer deals that she would cancel my account as from 1st july. I am stuck now because i dont want my sky to be cancelled i just wanted a better deal as i am paying £43 per month for sky+ and all the channels.

Should i let it get cancelled and then sign up again? my OH thinks they will call me before the cancellation date and offer me something????

    Thank you

I have no doubt they will ring you back to offer you something.

However I think you might have a problem due to you not having your own dish.

I know sky are not keen to put a dish up above the first floor without the customer paying extra for it.

I'm going to join as a new customer and was going to go for the £30 M&S vouchers offer until I saw this.

Will I need to have my friend's Sky number to get this offer? He hasn't received a mailing though.

Sorry about the delay but my scanner doesn't want to play today so here is what the small print says:

Introduce A Friend offer is only available through calling the number on this leaflet or by logging onto sky.com/friend. For queries relating to previous introductions call 08702 412 939. To benefit from the Introduce A Friend offer an existing Sky digital subscriber must follow the instructions provided either in this advert or on sky.com/friend to get a brand new customer who is not a member of their household to subscribe to the Sky digital (packages currently £15-£43.50 a month) by 17th June 2007. This offer can not be taken up if the new customer purchases Sky TV through a retail-oulet. Offer excludes employees and agents of British Sky Broadcasting Limited or any other companies in the Sky Group. Offer cannot be taken up with any other offer.

Just realised that the bit about existing customers doesn't really make sense :confused: why/how would you get someone who doesn't live with you to sign up to Sky for your house???

Sorry if this is not suitable for you OP but I hope it helps someone...

snaffs, It doesn't say anything about needing to give your friends Sky number so I think you should be ok to just quote "Sky+ IAF"

Plus (i'll shut up soon....promise ;) ), I've just been to sky.com/friend and it's still showing the M&S offer - maybe this is a new offer and they haven't updated the website yet??

I spoke to Sky today about cancelling in the hope they'd offer me something to stay and I managed to get the most arguementative little sh*t i've ever encountered!!! Every point I made he argued. Not reasoned or suggested alternatives but point blank rudely argued. Then told me in not so many words "you're not going to get freeview, you'll stay with sky, you know you will so what's the point in having this conversation" EXCUSE ME????

Any hoo, no deals offered to me although now I want to cancel just so I don't have to deal with him again! Arrrrrrgh. Hmmm feel better now......:o

That's ok and thanks again for taking the time to type it out.

It might not be any good for me but I'm sure it will be of some help to some people.

I just got sky + as a new customer with the installation waved. The sales lady was pretty nice when I challenged it, I just said it seemed ridiculous that they offered free installation with the free basic box but if you spent more money with them on the plus box you had to pay.

Also a hint if you are moving (but only if you have been with Sky over a year). Just cancel Sky before you leave your old place, keeping in mind the 30 notice period you have to give them, and don't tell them you are moving or your new address. We then rejoined under my husbands name and got the new customer deals.
