O/S Daily Thursday 14th March

O/S Daily Thursday 14th March March This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well”

    Hard Frost here this morning
I Started the tread off this morning and decided to come back to do my post later on. You don't all wont to keep reading about me first thing In the morning :D But I'm back and unless someone else posts while I'm writing this then, Today you will again read about me first thing.

Not a bad sleep for me last night. I did sleep until Just after 3:30am When I got up. I went to bed Just after 10:00pm and I was fast out as soon as my head hit the pillow. I could have quite easy gone to be at 8:00pm last night as I felt very tired. But If I had I would have been back up at 12:00:( So I stuck it out.

My wrist this morning feels quite good. Not pain at all as yet. It dose still feel very tight to use and I still don't have full movement In it.
After I had done some Jobs for my Wife Nan yesterday. It was killing me again. So back on with the deep heat.

Last Night I sat there with a cold pack On it, Well I got though 3 of them to tell you the truth. Just over 4 hours In the end With a cold pack On my wrist. But as I went to bed It felt a lot better. I wish now that I had tried the cold packs last week~! My wife did tell me too:D But I thought the deep heat would be better. That will teach me:D

Today the Kids are at school, My wife has work this afternoon.
Not much on for me, Normal household Jobs too do. I shall get some more wrist resting it. Might even get the cold packs out again later.

    Have a great day all:j:j

  • Good morning everyone :)

I see you are on night/early morning duty again halight! I hope you got back to the Land of Nod after your post?

Hilstep, I hope you are feeling better after your fall yesterday? Something like that can really shake you up and I have found I am aching like mad the next day :(

Usual early morning for me for work. It seems to get harder to get up every day, it must be the cold. Bring on some warm Spring sunshine please, as it's freezing again today. We are forecast dry weather though, so have risked an overnight wash and an early morning hanging out. Fingers crossed.

Salmon out of the freezer for dinner. This is the last of the post Christmas/New Year smoked salmon from Waitrose. It has done well for £1 a packet and provided many delicious, cheap meals. Probably will be in pasta tonight but will make my mind up when we get home.

Oh well, time to get my backside in gear! Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep warm, safe and well and have a super day :)

No not this morning, I normally do doze off In my chair while I have the radio on. But this morning I did not, Never mind. I always have radio four on. (I;m so rock and roll:D) Anyway at that time Of the morning They are playing the bbc world service. Lots of talk about the pope, We are not catholic, But I do follow what the pope dose, He is after all a world leader In away. And even if I don't believe In everything he and the catholic church says and stand for. I still feel he is very much worth listening too. So I Was very much Interested In the talk on the radio this morning. I might have a nap after lunch to make up for it ,

    Talking about Radio.

How many of you listen to it. ? I love the radio. But I only ever listen to talk radio. That's why I like radio four.
If I wont music then I will play a CD,MP3 or use You tube.
Talk radio To me is something different, You can learn from it. It can entertain you It can wind you up!
Then you have the afternoon drama, On radio four. Which normally are very Good.

Much better than listening to some someone who thinks they are the be all and end all, Singing some rubbish. That they are paid far too much for!

    Morning All

Chilly here this morning, I was awake early so decided to get up to do the ironing but haven't managed it yet!!

Bought a lovely new pair of shoes yesterday for my SILs 50th, I have black shoes but they are a little high so treated myself from Cl@rks, I had a £15 voucher so it wasn't too bad.

DD bought a paint kit yesterday to touch up the stone chips in her bonnet, opened one of the containers yesterday in the living room and managed to cover herself, the leather chair and the floor in silver car paint! I kept my cool whilst clearing up and then asked what the 'flip' did she think she was doing opening it in the living room and she burst into tears apparently upset that I shouted at her!! Children.

Anyway, work today and hospice later, take care. XX

Halight - I love Radio 4 it is like a comforting friend - especially at night x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all

Had a lovely night at the WI and then came home and packaged up all my ebay sales ready to post during my lunch break today. Didn't climb into bed until 1am!

I'm on the 5:2 eating plan (don't like the 'd' word) so today is a fast day - hm veg soup for lunch and for tea. Nice and easy.

Sun is beaming down at the moment, which is. Pure delight to see - it is very cold, but I'm just happy to see the sun. It really jolly you up I find.

At work we have the radio on all day for the clients and I love it. We have BBC Tees as it has a blend of 50/50 music and talk. We did try other channels but some of the phone-in debates/discussions were a little too risque for clients to have to sit and listen to (sex life after retirement sticks in my mind). Some of the phone-ins can get quite heated!

I received an email response from EDF yesterday to my complaint letter. It was very apologetic and apparently they will be sending a cheque out in the post for £50 for my inconvenience. RESULT!!!! :D

I hope you all have a healthy, warm and safe day! :)

    Morning all,

Sharp frost here, but a beautiful sunny day, will get some washing out once its finished.

Halight I dont often have the radio on, I prefer it to be quiet, but will have radio 4 on if I do.

Need to drop dd at the station this morning, then home for a bit of housework, and walk the dog.

Dinner tonight will be something with chips, not sure what yet, will go and look in freezer.

    Morning everyone

Bitsy - Happy Birthday - have a great day x

Halight - I'm a Radio 2 fan I'm afraid - always have it on in the car whilst I'm driving or a passenger, and normally listen on a Sunday morning to "Love Songs" show with Steve Wright - I'm very often prepping veg/Sunday lunch if we're at home or just listening whilst away in the caravan. Also like the drive time shows in the evening - but I've not found anything I really like after 6pm!

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Blue sky and sunshine, but very cold and frosty here this morning.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was stew and dumplings, mash, carrots, green beans, broccolli and peas, then HM trifle for dessert for those that had room - clean plates all round and only 2 small portions of trifle left. Have got some sausages out of the freezer this morning as I forgot last night - but they should have long enough to defrost before I need to cook them later. Will do mash, veg and onion gravy with them.

Got held up at work so was a bit late home from work yesterday - but still managed to get some jobs done that I needed too. Have the normal list of chores to get done today - but am going to the bank etc today as plumber is coming first thing tomorrow morning to install my replacement shower, so I need to be at home. Have also done an on-line shop to be delivered tomorrow afternoon between 4-6pm - as this then helps with managing my time tomorrow as I don't know how long the plumber will be here. Will be taking some bags of rubbish and the old printer to the recycling centre this morning, whilst I'm en route to the bank etc and other jobs - only want to go out once and then be at home to get washing, drying and ironing etc done - so this is all organised and done by the end of the day. Any cooking/baking can be done on Saturday as DH is working and taking DS1 with him.

Need to crack on as the "to do" list seems to be getting longer by the minute!

    Keep safe and well x

  • Oh happy birthday Bitsy! Have a lovely day!

I love the radio, I'm a channel hopper though. I flick between Radio 2, 6 music, local BBC radio and Absolute 80's.

Camelot, I am not surprised you shouted! What a daft thing to do!

I'm off to the hospital in an hour for a gynae ultrasound. Been having problems for a while and they are doing the full set of investigations. The sooner they whip it all out the better as far as I'm concerned. I'm trying to drink a litre of water. I never drink first thing so this is quite difficult.

DS2 is off school again, his cough is bad. he fell asleep twice at school yesterday and once whilst having his eyes tested! Not quite sure how that happened, he was reading out the letters and then suddenly stopped, turned to face him and he had dropped off! His eyesight has improved slightly so that's good. New Lego glasses for him, they have such lovely options. He's had Mr. Bump, Scooby Doo, Mr Tickle, Mickey Mouse, Marvel Avengers and plain frames in the past.

Pasta again for dinner tonight, I forgot to take the meat out of the freezer for casserole. Having creamy bacon and spinach pasta with garlic ciabatta. I'll make my own garlic butter and the ciabatta was a 10p YS. Bargain.
