Now I like that  who wants to be the first to try and explain Kelvins to the poor bloke at Kwik-Fit? :rotfl:

Nice one - with posts like this, no wonder you get thanked so much.:rotfl:

Retro fitting aircon really is difficult, it involves additional belt drives, coolant radiator, controls/switches and in most cases ECU reprogramming. Personally the easiest and cheapest way to add aircon is to sell the Wagon R privately and buy another one with it already fitted.

I'd question if it's really worth it. In reality we probably really need Air-con for a few weeks in the UK - looks like this year's summer is over already! Is it really worth the extra expense and maintenance costs - I personally don't think so - I'm speaking from someone who has two cars - both with Aircon.

I personally think it's worth every penny, and even if the summer is over (global warming aside), it is fantastic for clearing steam from windows on those warm rainy days. My daughters car doesn't have aircon and I don't think I'd ever buy another car without it.

If you think about the Earth's temperature being closely correlated with the solar activity of the sun, you'll see the temperature rises started over 600 years ago, well before we started footprinting the earth with our inconsiderate oversized carbon feet

This CO2 footprint/offsetting is just a scam to make money for 'environmental charities' who are setting up by the droves...

Back on topic :o I have climate control and the air conditioning aspect I find invaluable, each to their own I suppose :D

If all of you with Air Con follow the instructions that came with your vehicle, you shouldn't need the system recharging, vis, run the Air Con for a few minutes on a regular basis even in the middle of winter.

This will keep the system lubricated and avoid seals becoming dry, and thus leaking.

    ;)

Maybe we didn't get any instructions with the vehicle? Especially being MSEs, who would buy a brand new vehicle? :)

No need to buy brand new to get a handbook.

My S/H car is 8 years old, and I have a handbook with it.

I don't think the Kwik Fit price is very cheap at all, just had a full Air Con service, including drain system, , refill with gas/dye , check for leaks and full disinfecting the system and vents/car for £45+vat from Suzuki car garage in Lincoln.

You need to disinfect your system every 18 months as bacteria builds up and can cause illness
