You should paint blown vinyl IMO but you don't have to.
Silk finish is horrid paint in my view but thats only my view. Its horrid to apply and its horrid to look at.
Whatever paint you use it will need two or perhaps three coats. Two thin coats are better than one thick one.
Trade paint is thicker than retail stuff. So although it seems more expensive after you've thinned it appropriately its actually more cost effective. It also has higher opacity which means it covers better.
For a room that size I would automatically buy 2 x 5 litre cans without even thinking about precisely measuring it.
Don't forget you'll need to paint the ceiling too otherwise the new paint on the walls will make the ceiling look grubby. Ceiling first, walls second.
BTW Spaced out kid will be along in a second to moan about how I've given trade secrets away from a painting perspective now.

Thank you, I didn't realise it needed thinned out either.
I don't prefer silk but its my parents house and thats what they like.
I'd have thought matt would be much better.
Yes to ceilings, although my dad always paints the ceiling before putting the new wallpaper on too?
I thought paper on first , tidy all that away and then paint all together, ceilings then walls.
Thank youMollyJoe0
