Bt "Broadband"

I have just made the mistake of signing up to bt broadband. Currently, the connection is far slower than dial up. I believe my phone line should be cpabile of 2mb.

Does anyone have any advice as to how top get it to go at a reasonable speed

If you are still within the first 10 days, they won't do anything because it will still be trying different speeds to see what is the maximum your line is capable of.

Do you have any extensions on your line? Try connecting to the broadband from your master socket with extensions disconnected. If it does the trick then you know it's your wiring that's at fault.

ah, saw that bit in the documentation, but didnt realise it affected the speed as much as it is doing. I do hae to admit though, I was previously with NTL, and thought their customer service was bad, but I think BT beats them hands down.

Cheers for the other idea about trying other sockets - just moved in, and while the phone sounds ok, I guess there could be a problem on the line
