They made me feel really at ease and talked me through what might be neccessary in the future. eg they said I may need an oil change but really didn't need to pay the cost of a 20,000 mile service as it was unnecessary.

Is your car due a 20,000 mile service?
  • Yes It's just gone over actually. VW programme in a service flash so you are left in no doubt that they want you to have a service!

then I would get the 20,000 mile service despite what kwik-fit say. This will make sure your car has a service history and despite it being worth a bit more when you come to get rid of it, any warrenties on the car could be void if the service is not done.

I last went to kwikfit for a pair of new tyres. They quoted me about 50quid each tyre. So, i looked on google and found an online tyre seller. I ordered the exact same make/model/size of tyres from the online place which shipped them straight from germany to my door for half the price kwikfit charged. I then took the new tyres in my boot to kwikfit who fitted them for 5quid each. Saved myself 50% on the prices they were going to charge for the same tyres!
  • Costco also do a tyre service and will fit them for you. You sometimes have to wait a little bit but the savings are good.

I've got my car booked in with the local gov testing centre tomorrow for £35. Obviously Kwik Fit is cheaper but are they going to sting me on the repairs? It's a touch call this one

I always go to the same MOT garage and pay the full amount as I have found in the past the cheaper garages always tend to find problems whether it be genuine or something they have done themselves.

Kwik-Fit the nationwide chain is offering 40% off MoT test when you use their online reservation service. After filling out a short online form, they immediately email you a quotation that you can print out, containing your name and vehicle registration number, and they have the manager of your selected local Kwik-Fit centre phone you to make an appointment.
    It's at https://www.kwik-fit.com
And if you don't want to wait for them to phone you back for an appointment, you can phone free to 0800 222 111 and it will automatically put you through to your nearest centre.

My confirmation quotation specifies 40% off and also reads: "This special price is valid for 28 days".
So they give you time to shop around or possibly haggle another MOT test centre in an effort to match the price.
