No-Idea-Anymore wrote: »I went to a solicitor for advice a few months ago as the mother was making threats, the soilicitor told me it was my word against the mothers and told me I could record the phonecalls to prove what I was saying.
It worked because I now have the mother threatening my life if I come anywhere near my own child, and saying she will get people to come to my home and smash all my windows, at the end of the call she also mentioned that she knows where my parents live and to "watch myself".
The mother sounds emotionally unstable to me. I would see a solicitor as a matter of urgency if I were you. For an eight year old child, to be in the care of an adult who thinks it is appropriate to make such threats, is extremely concerning.
I dont know, or need to know what has happened previously, to incite such anger and hatred in your ex. Maybe alot, maybe nothing. That is the point though. What if your daughter does or says something she does not like and she snaps not verbally but physically?
Is there any family member, either on your side of the family or the mothers, who can advise on the welfare of your child? We're hearing one side of the story here but my first thought was -What in the email set her off ? Remembering that it could be used in court too.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I suspect this whole situation is far more complex and complicated than the detail given already. It's not hugely helpful to say 'the ex is a nutter'. How can we possibly know something like that from a (necessarily) one-sided tale?
OP, you've not answered some simple questions. Do you have parental responsibility? What was the email about?
All that aside, you need to see a solicitor au fait with family law. It's also in your interests, but most importantly your daughter's interests, to try to find a way of being civil with your ex."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Yes, we are only hearing one side of the story... as is normal when someone posts on here.
As to someone referring to the ex as a 'nutter', I made a comment about the mother's mental state (NOT in such a derogatory term) which I feel is relevant... anyone making threats to life / property and welfare of grandparents does not appear mentally stable... and I'd say that regardless of the dad's email content.
Would you be more 'understanding' if the OP were a mum asking about a threatening male partner?
I bet there'd be a lot more posts with a lot more suggestions of speaking to police etc if 'he' were a 'she'.:hello:0
