My latest Facebook experience & advice (for what it's worth)

  • Not convinced about just those banned for having no picture.
I have my photo up as have others I recognise who are posting on the other thread. We have been blocked.
I keep my friends list down to 160 and the majority of those have at least 130 friends in common.
All as far as I am aware have only one facebook account and have provided correct details such as location, date of birth etc.
The blocking appears quite arbritary in most cases.
However I am suprised on the number of people on the other thread who are admitting to having 2 or even 3 accounts.
My feeling is that facebook ran a program at a specific date and time and many of us online then were trawled up doing like and share comps.
I have been doing very few comps for the last month, but was online Sunday evening and did perhaps 4 like and shares in succession.Odd that the blocking came Monday morning.
Lots of friends who enter hundreds of comps weekly have not been affected so I discount the like and share as a general reason.Likewise others who do not do like and shares have been affected.
Think it was just unfortunate being on line at a specific time.
Though I should like to thank those with multiple accounts for sparking this blocking spree.

Lots of people who have been blocked only had one account so there goes that theory about more than one account
Current Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday
Best Wins: Ipad, Nintendo 3DS, £400 Shopping Spree at LK Bennett, £100 Boots vouchers
Total Wins (Since April 2012) £3442.56
Big thanks to all who post comps :T:beer:

The problem is how can we delete the pictures in our own accounts when we can't get passed the security to get into our accounts ;)

I hear what you're saying - This was more aimed at those who had been locked out themselves, had to identify inanimate objects to pass security measures, then moaned about the stupidity of those pictures yet kept them in their albums. Until people remove those then others will just be stuck in the same loop.

All I can say I have done differently since is to make sure I have no such photos in my shares. I have edited the 'Where I Live' & 'Went To School' parts to make it look more "Human" in Facebook's eyes.

My account seems to be functioning normal again.
  • I don't believe that having more than one account was the reason for the blocking.
Myself and most others have just the one account.
Just suprised how so many who were blocked now admit to multiple accounts.
Took this blocking business for some to admit they were openly operating multiple accounts.
Having 2 accounts is not a problem for me if one is personal and one for comping--but it is for facebook.
I simply operate one account as do most others, why some feel the need for multiple accounts instead of just seperating personal from comping is there own issue.
But it is against the rules which they are quite aware of.Pity we have all been jumbled in when some are innocent and play the game fairly.

I stopped like and share ages ago and was still blocked. managed to get on after giving my mobile number and setting to (only me), but really fed up with the whole situation. Only have one account and it's for comping and very few friends about a dozen I think.

I got my old account back :)

Is there anyway of sharing pics on FB without them appearing on selected friends feeds?

Is it possible to set up a second account if you use a different e-mail address and a different mobile number to the one on your account (e.g. a friend or family members mobile number that does not have or want to have Facebook).

Could you explain what you mean about " make sure I have no such photos in my shares." please for those of us not totally Facebook experienced - thanks

Exactly what I was thinking. I am a bit of a facebook novice, but I would try and delete my random photo's if I can get on.

I take it to mean photos of random comp prizes which have no relevance to the person sharing them

That is correct - I explained it in my first post of the thread that the pictures having to be guessed are from people's albums on their account & not from the timeline directly.

It does help if you don't have a huge Friends list - The reason I can relate to most of my friend's profile pictures is because when I enter an App type competition you can share to your wall & also invite friends to participate. Seeing as you can invite up to 50 people on most of these comps & I have double that amount of friends it is easy to remember.

There are quite a lot of those 'invite friends' ones so I tend to invite the first 50 working down from the top of my list for one of them & alternate to the bottom half working upwards for the next one.

Thanks for that, Sherlock. Having 2 accounts if I can navigate between them both & then reclaiming one back is obviously not the issue for me. People who only have one account and do not use it for comping have suffered the same fate. Some people have lost their accounts completely.

You are quite welcome, but my name's not Sherlock ;)
I've only got one account, I haven't been blocked
It is against Facebook rules to have more than one account - so apologies if it comes across that I have no sympathy for those who have multiple accounts that have now lost access to them. No, actually, rewind, no apologies! Don't break the rules!!

Not sure why the Winners Circle thing keeps coming up. I am a member of a number of groups - that being one of them, why do they keep seemingly get the blame aimed at them??

    Thanks! Someone who talks sense!

I'll change the piece of advice I gave you:
Facebook rules state that you can only have ONE account - this account MUST have your REAL details (name). Don't see why having MSE or something in the middle of your name should be a problem, as long as the first and surname are as you are in real life. Lots of people have their nicknames or something stupid like "princess", "goldigga" etc.

Facebook also states that any competition MUST be through an app, NOT like & share - which is where all these problems started!! People sharing random pictures in the hope that they'll win 2 Creme eggs :rotfl:
Obviously, this is something us compers can't change, only the companies running the comps can, but you make it heard. Refuse to enter Like & share comps - refuse to post them on here - I know some MSE members don't enter them anyway! Report the companies for running the comps - they'll soon stop when they receive a warning from Facebook!!

So please don't moan at me if you lose your account - not my problem you have broken a rule along the lines somewhere :o
    Thanks to all posters :A
