£50 quid sounds about right to me. A reasonable oil if you brought it yourself is going to cost a minimum of £20 for 5 litres add a filter thats circa £25 plus half an hours labour.0

I suspect the cheapest will be somewhere like national
http://www.national.co.uk/oil-vehicle-search.aspx
But if you value your car and dont want to get ripped off for extra work such as "your brake pads need changing Mr Smith", then I would find a good independant garage.
As said above, £50 sounds about right, depending what oil you need of course0 -
Buy Oil and filter from local motor shop. Estimate £25. My local independant garage charges £10 cash for the job0

Depends if you want a proper job. Or the old oil sucked out from the dipstick tube and some new stuff thrown in.
How much fuel are you going to spend to save £10, If i tell you somewhere that does a proper job for £40.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Try your little independent garages, bloke at the bottom of my street charges an amazing £10 for an oil change (you supply oil and filter). Needless to say since this discovery last month he's done my car, OH's, DS's and the Inlaws
OH (who's majorly picky) sat and watched him do it and said he did a decent job.0 -
Just thought I would say, that 5 litres of oil for my Skoda Octavia diesel costs between £35 and £40 - that is with me shopping around for it. The reason for this, is that it must have a fully synthetic oil which meets the standards required by VAG for that particular engine.
Add in an oil filter and the £50 mark has been approached.
Pleased do not skimp by using cheap oil on modern diesels.0 -
£10 labour he supplies the bits.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

I imagined a very long hose pipe lowered straight into the tank of a crude oil carrier as it arrived from the Gulf.;)0 -
Spend a bit more on decent oil, cheap oil will ruin your fuel consumption and increase engine wear and cost more in the long run!0
