Am I likely to be approved for a new card?

in Credit cards
Hello everybody-
I'm new here and after some advice.
I have just returned from a years travelling- before I went abroad I had a FT job and credit card, which I took travelling with me, more as a just in case, but I ended up using it and now have to pay it off.
When I took it out it had a 0% interest period which has now finished.
I would like to transfer it to another card so I don't have to pay the interest on it.
The trouble is I have been unemployed since I returned in December. I have just been offered a new job, and although it is a modest interest, I am living at home so in a good position to pay off the card quite quickly.
My questions are: how long into starting the job will I have to wait until I am likely to be approved for a card- I know on the application it asks this!
I have an overdraft on my current account (leftover from my uni days) so not sure if this makes me less likely to be approved for a new card.
The other option would be to transfer the balance onto a relatives card and pay it off from there- is this a possibility?

Being employeed/umemployeed/self employeed will be on factor. So having a job will count in your favour, the salary will be used along with your other credit usage to determine affordability. Being new to a job may have the effect of giving you a smaller limit, but that depends very much on the card company.
Your over draft shouldn't hurt to much, I assume you are not using it. It will be credit you have, but the balances you have count perhaps more so than the unused credit.
Transfering to a relative is possible, they could balance transfer your debt, or if your issuer takes credit card payments, it could be used to make a payment. As long as you are a trustworthy sort as once its on their card its their liability.0
