Can i track a person's name of a cheque i personally sent?

Options
I sent a cheque recently, and i would like proof that i sent the cheque to the said person. My bank statement and internet banking show only the cheque number, but not the name of the person i sent the cheque to.

Is there any way i can get proof of the name of the person i sent the cheque too.

I'm surprised bank statements don't actually note the name of the person/company the cheque is sent too, and only leave the detail of the cheque number.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    No you can't.

But if it shows on your statement obviously the person got it and banked it.

They will only look into it if it was banked fraudulently.

Thanks, this is a good idea.

Would you happen to know, that if i were to go into a branch, whether the copy of a cheque would be given to me on the day?

It's only that the bank's website states that if i were to request a copy through internet banking, it would take 20 days to arrive through the post.

Cleared cheques aren't held locally, so that would explain any delay. Why are you so concerned, cheques aren't transferable, so it must have been cleared through an account in the name thereon? I can't see what you've got to gain, remember the bank may charge you for their costs in obtaining a copy of the cheque.

Quite unlikely because the cheque will be digitised in a central archive and will have to be retrieved from there.

I cant speak for other banks however RBSG can download the cheque from the system there and then and print it off.

Which bank is it you are referring to?

There will also be a charge for this service. My bank charges £15. If you don't need it, save your money!

I'm not sure what level of proof you are looking for, but it might have been cheaper to photocopy the cheque before sending it. A bit late now I know.
