The Work Programme - Advice Needed Plz

Hi All
I would like some advice please.
I am 30 years old. Last March to November I was unemployed after been made redundant. I was claiming Job seekers allowance as their is me, my partner and two year old son.
From November the 9th to Febuary 10th I got a full time job but sadly again I was made redundant due to the company losing a big contract. I am now back on JSA.

I was on contributions based jsa to start with and now I am on income support based jsa. I have read about this work programme but I don't really understand what it is about.
My job centre, (Bridlington) haven't mentioned about me going on any course or work programme at the moment.
I am trying very hard to find a job and even the job centre have commented on how hard I am trying to find work.

My question is will I be sent on this Work Programme and what does it entail? In the last year I have signed on for nine months and been in work for three months if this helps
Still after been employed non-stop for the first ten years of my working life, I hope my luck changes soon!

Thank you for any help

The Work Programme is about nothing other than wasting your time and everyone elses!

Ignoring AP007s comment, the WP is mandatory work you have to if put on by the JC+.

I would address your concerns and questions to your adviser.

How about no longer being masochistic?
    How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?

OP have you been unemployed for more than 12 months then the jobcentre will refer you to a provider.

The work programme is a mandatory waste of time and effort on all concerned, good if you want a CV or something like that but offer very little help with regards to finding you a sustainable job.

OP just jump through the hoops they put in front of you and you'll be fine.
  • So do you have to go and work in charity shops etc or do you have to attend workshops?

Simple answer, if you have been unemployed for a certain length of time, everyone had an entry point to the work programe and claims to link, but as a general rule of thumb, 25+ are referred at 12 mnths19-24 go at 9mnths unemployed.
The work programe is a mandatory provision for 2 years, no get out or exemption. Once referred you remain with that provide for two years regardless of change in circumstances. Your adviser wont discuss this with you until you are ready to be referred.

yes provided the job lasts more than two years.:)
  • So really do you just sign on every two weeks but just have an independent advisor to help you find work? Is that what is meant by PROVIDER?
    Thanks guys
