Broken virginmedia tv remote

Someone managed to break my virginmedia tv remote and I need a replacement. Their site says you can buy another one but I am guessing it will be expensive so I am considering getting one second hand. Will there be a problem with having to match up remotes and tv boxes though?

I'd contact their customer services first, they often send these out gratis unless you've had one fail in the past.

Ebay and Google are your friends!

As mentioned above, CS can and will often replace them FOC if you've had them a while (last time I had one die on me the CS rep mentioned that he wasn't surprised given i'd never had a replacement and been using it for 5 years).

Otherwise Ebay is often your friend, but make sure you get one to match the one you've already got, at one point there were from memory 4 different models of the remote depending on what region you were in (IIRC they effectively had two networks with subtly different hardware, and the remotes for the boxes in one area didn't work in the other).
IIRC if you'd got a blue remote you needed to replace it with a blue one the same, if you've got a black one it needs to be black.
I'm not sure if that is still the case though.
