Sainsbury's petrol prices at the company's 279 forecourts dipped by 4p a litre, with diesel being reduced by 3p a litre, with other Supermarkets seeming to have done the same by increasing prices B4, then day's later reducing, so in fact you are only saving 1ppLitre if you are lucky :mad:WHAT A CON ?:mad:There are more questions than answers :shhh: :silenced:WARNING ! May go silent for unfriendly repliesPlease excuse me Spell it MOST times

I wonder, if everybody start buying petrol cars, would petrol get more expensive?
Don't think so. Diesel is used for many things other than cars, so is in more demand than petrol and I think you get more petrol from a barrel of oil than diesel. Petrol was in surplus at one point too.
Best value in the diesel market was around 2000. It was around the same price as petrol, the engines were good and not too complicated and the cars did good economy over the petrol vehicles of the time.0 -

Was there any actual REASON for the last few increases anyway>
Shame we don't have a government who actually cares about the rights of the electorate.
Bah.
Sounds like a cartel, doesn't it?
Don't worry though - the OFT (the people who helped stop consumers reclaiming their bank charges) thinks the market is working well. :cool:0 -
Hmmmm....."Tesco will reduce diesel by up to 3p/litre" - except at the store near me it's actually been reduced by 2p/litre
"Asda will reduce diesel by up to 2p a litre" - except at their store near me they've only taken 1p/litre off the price.
So, not only are they insulting us with this phoney price war, but they're not even making the reductions they've splashed all over their press releases.0 -
I'm seeing 10p difference between diesel and petrol now.
I'm getting 45mpg actual usage, from my 6 year old diesel COLT,
but the new PETROL COLT is claiming 65mpg combined. Anyone can confirm this from actual driving?
I don't know about the Colt, but Peugeot claim their petrol 107 will do mid 60's mpg - I hired one and it averaged about 45mpg, which is a massive difference. That said, my everyday car is a diesel Citroen C3 (claimed mpg around 70mpg) and it actually does low to mid 60's mpg week in, week out which is a lot nearer the claimed figures.0 -
we all complain about the cost of fuel but WE can lower the price. Just cut down on what we use a simple case of supply and demand. Just look at the roads when the weather is bad. Shows just how many journeys are unnecessary.0

This will be short-lived.
Because of the poor value of the pound against the dollar, thanks to the Bank of England and more especially Mervyn King giving out bad predictions, the price will go back up, as oil is traded in USD0
