As for the ticket, it's a Vehicle Defect Rectification Scheme (VDRS) notice - basically letting you off 3 points and a £60 fine. Get a new tyre, take the car to an MOT centre to have it checked - you don't need a new MOTand don't let the MOT centre staff tell you that you do. They will stamp the form and you send it back to the address shown on it - within 14 days, so do it asap.

If you continue to drive on it and get stopped again, it will flag up you've had the VDRS and you will get the 3 points and £60 fine.

Thx for reply,but can i drive tomorrow to take it to garage?they cant stop me in next 14 days right?i will fix it tomorrow but if they stop me again i have days to fix it,and ur saying i get 3 pnt and £60 fine, do i still get it that?or u mean if i didnt fix it on time?what happen now after i fix and send back ticket,evrything will be fine?or i still recivce letters ?thanks im worried and feel upset dont know wat im writting

Yes carefuly, if it was too bad they would have taken your car off the road and told you not to drive it.

Take the stamped producer in to the cop shop nominated and you will be in the clear.

No, if stopped you are liable to prosecution. Or whatever the officer decides.

Fair enough, last time I got one for a light I had to return it to the main police station just like showing your insurance. But it was a fair while ago (I think Thatcher was the new PM).

Yes i have to send it back by post,but how do i know im clear after i send it back?can i do double cheak and go to police station as well? to make sure they recived ticket and im clear now?after i fix evrything

You put the spare on to drive to the garage, which should be legal tread, or it is not a spare.

He has 14 days to present the vehicle at a mot station, have them see that the specified tyre is no longer defective and for the paper work to arrive at said location. He can't really fix the tyre can he?
