does anyone know if there is a way to disable these networks broadcasting from a homehub - all i have read is that you have to opt out of the service via a website, however, I don't have a bt contract and never have, I just got an old homehub to use as a wireless access point - i wouldn't mind so much if the networks were operational but as they on an access point you can connect to them but there is no internet connection available.
I have only recently come across this problem since I started using a tablet with the btwifi app and whenever I get into range of that access point the wireless goes for the bt ones first and I have to select my own network manually so I need to stop them broadcasting!

Go to the wireless settings on your tablet and tell it to forget the BTFON connection?

it doesn't work because I go from a network on one side of the house into the otherside of the house where the network has the same name and it goes to the next one on the list (which with the app running is always a bt one and even if you forget the network it continuously comes back)
I've tried all software things i can think of (and can find online) but I want to disable it on the router then I have no issues at allThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
can't remember OTTOMH, but there is/was an option in the router firmware to do this..........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

Reset the homehub? Button on the back, or pinhole with paperclip?0

there's no need to reset it, the problem is that i am using the router as an access point and not as my main router therefore the two additional wireless networks being broadcast are useless and i want to turn them offThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. as I recall, the settings you are after are pretty well-hidden in the fw...sorry can't be more helpful, it's been a fair while since I had to play with a HH......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

There is no setting in the hub.
I have a feeling you have to go to https://www.btfon.com and log in with your account details and then opt out from there.
This then prompts an auto update to be sent to the hub that turns FON off. The update can take a couple of days, I seem to remember that you get a message to that effect when you opt out.
If you don't have an account then I think you might be banjaxed. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
there's got to be a setting somewhere!?
surely it can't just be that you need an account to deactivate it, bit backwards, although I suppose it is bt...This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
