how/What am i entitled to?

Hi

My girlfriend and I are xpecting our first baby in about 3 monthes, we also have a mortgage going through which will hopefully (fingers crossed!) be completed within that time.

Ive been told i can now claim working tax credits and cild tax credits.

I know every individual has different circumstances but is it possible some one could tell me roughly how much i can claim (per month I assume).

My salary 39000
Girlfriends salary 15500

Mortgage for 175000 on 185000 property

I know it could vary alot but perhaps anyone which simular circumstances could comment?

thanks

You will get a small amount of CTC and Child Benefit.

You will not get help with your mortgage.
    Gone ... or have I?

Make an appointment to see an advisor at the local Jobcentre - they should do something called "an in work benefit calculation" telling you how much housing, councilt tax benefits and tax credits youre entitled to. If you are eleigiable they will do all the tax credits paperwork and fast track them through the system for you

claim tax credits and of course as son as baby is born, child benefit. your gf should still get free dental with an nhs dentist (if you can find one) for the next 12 months. Check out your rights for paternity leave etc

That would be for people who have low earnings.

Don't pay attention to averages. This comes down to personal circumstances. What you are entitled to will be calculated based on your income.

I found this site when searching for a tax credits calculator, it seemed to calculate my entitlement quite accurately but your mileage may vary.

It would also depend on whether your partner was going back to work or no.

There is no way you would get £250 a month, you earn too much! You won't be entitled to WTC as that is for families on very low income. You will probably get about £10 a week in CTC and your child benefit as well.

Your mortgage amount doesn't matter as everything is based on income not outgoings.

The tax credits will be double in the first year of the babies life. We were on less money than you with 3 children and only received the minimum tax credits.
