Great example of working the system and why all child related benefits should be abolished.

One more thing before I go to bed maybe you should be abolished of this part of the forum, since most of the time your answers are pointless.

So, given that HMRC advise that it is perfectly possible to do this on their website the OP will not be working the system at all, but claiming the extra £6.90 a week he (or she) would be entitled to. Let's just hope he/she doesn't spend it all at once and wreck the financial system with this sudden influx of cash!

Then they shouldn't expect others to pay for the way they run their lives.

Midnight, I wonder what you do for a living because you seem to have a lot of time to go around slagging off people on this board because of their choices. I expect you are claiming every benefit known!

The word is their. I don't see why people should have their lifestyle choices paid for by benefits.

Picking up on spelling mistakes, what a child. Why did you need to edit your post no spelling mistakes I hope.

They give you the maximum rate each. Note that each parent must have primary responsibility for one child each...that means the registered address for the school must match what is on the child benefit. 1st child with you and 2nd child with the other parent. Even though it's shared care they can't quite grasp that concept. So you would have one child for 183 nights a year and be the primary carer and the other parent only has the first child for 182 nights therefore not being the primary carer. Then with the second child it has to be the other way around you have them for 182 nights a year and they stay at the other place for 183 nights a year. Keep a diary....

Hi, both children are registered at my address, always have been. This isnt a rival claim so no need to keep a diary??

Thanks for the replies, not working the system at all. My ex and I just want what is fair for the children. She has relinqushed CTC also to let me claim that. Is that working the system OR is it just parents deciding which household benefits the most for the claim?

Your ex can only claim CB for one of the children if she is the primary carer for that child. Which means the child must be living most of the time at her address.

    Hi
The children live an equal amount of time at both our houses, as a result of that we have decided to have one each (CB). Which as parents we can decide between us.

She relinquished the eldests CB so I could claim, but just now has informed me that CB for youngest child hasnt gone in her account? Could it be that her money has changed to 4 weekly? Anyone know?
At the same time she informed them of change of address and circumstances (moved in with partner)

I do believe that CB can be paid weekly to claimants who are single parents so perhaps HMRC now consider she no longer falls into that category.

However I am not up to speed on that; so I may not be correct.

My CB is paid weekly (Tuesday, for anyone needing to know!) as I am a single parent.
  • Thanks guys
Just been informed, ex has received email saying she will be getting CHB for youngest only from now and still weekly. Ive heard stories about a transfer of CHB can sometimes take months! Hope not!
