I have a T-Mobile contract that I haven't used for 6 months +, the contract came to an end in february (24 month) But i got a new phone in September so haven't used the t mobile one since then.
I have been paying it when I can get some money from customers. and I'm just waiting for a customer to finally pay me so I can finally pay off and close this phone contract (yes I know it's a rubbish way of doing it).
In February I recieved a letter stating that i needed to pay £66 and as I haven't paid since they have disconnected me. I check this month and they want £90. Are they allowed to do that even though they've disconnected it?

Oh dear. Your contract didn't 'end'. It simply reached the end of it's minimum term (24 months), and then continues until such time as you give 30 days notice.
Any outstanding payments remain due.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
As above, they don't disconnect you when you reach the end of the contract period. You have to ask them to cancel it or they will keep charging every month.0

Point is, you didn't cancel the contract and assumed it had ended so you still owe them money. If it has increased since they cut you off then it is probably administrative charges as mentioned above. If you don't pay them it will eventually be handed over to a debt collector.0 -
You'll also have a default on your credit file - this will prove to be a greater problem should you plan to buy other financial products.0

24 month contract started feb 2011, Phone started going wrong, they wouldn't do anything about it so I got a new contract with a new phone on Orange and paid both in September. Couldn't pay Octobers so paid that, Novs & Decembers in December, again couldn't pay so got a letter in feb saying that they had disconnected me through no payment (understandable) then I look in the account in march and see they've charged me another month even though it's been "disconnected" and "unusable". I'll just wait til this bloody slow customer pays me and ring them up to see what they say
Thanks though everyoneWhat's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0 -
T-Mobile levy late payment charges so its probably that.0

The phone has nothing to do with your contract - it is a service contract for network service. You cannot treat the networks in the way you have - they will fry your file and cause issues for 6 years.0

If you owe them money they can disconnect you until you pay (so that you could not increase the debt), then reconnect again.0
