Refused a bank account due to association

Options
Hi all, not sure this is the right forum so feel free to move it to the correct one.

Was refused a bank account the weekend and the main reason other than my various payment plans set up with my creditors was an association with various people.

Now I had a bank account with my ex back in 2007 which as far as Im aware is no longer open etc, I had a mortgage with her until summer of last year but I got her removed officially and now its just in my name.

My credit report I obtained via noddle shows the association with my ex but nothing else with anybody else.

Where is the best place to get my credit report to take someone to task on this connection with my ex? I dont really trust what noddle are telling me.

Any help is appreciatted

I would check your Experian and Equifax credit reports, as these are the main 2 credit agencies that most banks and suppliers of credit use.

Noodle (credit expert) isn't the best one to base your credit worthyness from as not many use it.

There could be stuff on your files from the big 2 agencies that still link you to your ex or other people you were associated with.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both.

I would hazard a guess that it is your defaults that have lead to the decline, rather than any 'associations'.
  • The lady in Natiownide said about the arranagements I have in place but also various associations I have. Not so fussed about the declined account more the fact that my ex girlfriend maybe making it worse ( if that is at all possible ) and wanting to set the record straight in the respect of having nothing to do with her anymore.

Oddly enough nationwide gave me a bank account two years ago when my finances were in a worst state than now.

    Thanks for the replies

Possibly the requirements for the account applied for at the weekend are more stringent than the account applied for two years ago.
  • Based on the advice to look at experian or equifax, If I were to get my report from either, would both enable to me to question the reports and amend any association that wasnt any longer valid?

    Thanks

Wouldn't of thought any bank would want a customer with defaults on their books TBH.
  • Yeah, my thoughts as well to be honest but I had my defaults two years ago when nationwide gave me the another account.

The account I applied for was again just a basic bank account which I wanted to use for bills etc but seperate from my other

Try Barclays pretty sure their basic account criteria is pretty easy.

The account issue has been overcome its more making sure I am in control of everything that happens to my credit score by removing any effect my ex has on it, through assocaition with an old address or anything else similar

So I'll check equifax and experian and go about making sure she isnt associatted with me as I cannot control what she does unfortunatley.
