My mutt is freaking me out a bit today......

We have a routine in this house, one we've followed for the past 2 years.

Mutt gets his breakfast and then gets put out in the garden. He does the 'sniffing round' (large garden, loads of bushes, he likes to check for cats and pheasants :D) then comes in and goes back to bed where he stays (his choice) whilst daughter and I get ready for school.

I have to drive her to school and when I come back, the dog then gets up and goes out for a walk.

This morning, he's acting like a right limpet. He's followed me round the house, sat beside me in the kitchen whilst I made breakfast, followed me to the loo, sat in front of me when I was on the couch etc etc.

He sits and stares pointedly at me but I have no idea what he's trying to tell me. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with him but heaven knows what his issue is. He's even tried to get on my knee and he never does that. He's not even bothering going up to son's room and when he calls him, the dog just lies down and wont go.

I've just told all my family I love them just in case I have a heart attack or a stroke or some other nasty befalls me that the dog is sensing.

I'm joking, but he is acting quite weirdly today. :undecided

He's not acting scared in any way but every single time I glance across, he's staring at me intently.

Any ideas?

I don't really expect anyone to be able to actually tell me what's up with him, he's just giving me the willies a bit and I felt the need to share. :rotfl:

You mention pheasants, so I guess you live in the countryside?
Maybe some wildlife has decided to keep warm in your house and your mutt can sense them?

Did you get any packing boxes or suitcases out, or have a good clear out out at the weekend? Perhaps he senses changs are afoot? My woofer always gets a bit peculiar if he sees a suitcase, he knows we're going away.

Yes, pheasants are in the garden a lot, but nope, definitely nothing in the house and he's not particularly phased by them anyway, he just likes to scent mark any spot he might have smelt them at iyswim.

No. There was absolutely nothing different happening recently. I could understand if there was and he was picking on on things but there really wasn't anything.

In fact, if anything this weekend was really relaxed.

Perhaps that was the difference. ;)

    Lol, maybe. :rotfl:

Daughter was trying to teach me to play guitar and my efforts were the cause of much hilarity. Maybe the dog was worrying about me. :rotfl:

I was also going to suggest the weather?

Or maybe he has a bit of an upset tum and is sticking by you ready to warn you for when he needs a quick exit!
  • Maybe it's not you that's not quite right, it's him?

Has he had a checkup recently?

My pets got more limpet like when they were coming down with something.

He seems to be fine, he's not doing anything untoward, still eating/sleeping/poo-ing like he always does. No itchy ears, sore paws, hard tum etc etc. Nowt.

He was at the vet 3 weeks ago to get his paw looked at, all fine.

This may or may not have anything to do with anything but late last night I had a very sore boob.:o it was the kind of sore boob you get when you breastfeed and are late feeding so the milk builds up and your boob feels like it's swollen to twice it's usual size. Iyswim. I actually took some tablets and went to bed because of it. No idea what that was all about, I haven't had it before and it seems ok today, a little tender but not sore as such.

Now this may have had absolutely nothing to do with anything, I'm not actually saying he was picking up on something to do with this, I'm just wondering if it was a possible.

Other than a sore boob (sorry for sharing that :rotfl:) and the fact I made weird noises with a guitar, nothing was different for him.

Just one of those weird days I guess, he's back to ignoring me this morning and is in his bed again, which is where he is usually at this time. All is well. :D

He knew it was going to snow and wanted to make sure you weren't going to lock him outside!
