i brought a coffee machine only two weeks ago for £119.99 in a supermarket. its now on the shelves at £59.99!!

gutted its now half price!! should i be able to go in store and mention this in view of getting £60 back? or is it just tough luck and that was the price when i brought it so thats it.

any advice would be appreciated.. it was in sainsburys and so far ive not found the answer on their website.

cheers

You have no right to a refund, however speak to customer services and see if they can make a goodwill gesture, they often do, but not always.

If it increased in price would you be happy to pay the extra? ;)

You can ask for a goodwill gesture but I wouldn't hold my breath.

No you can't demand a refund of the difference but as it's such a large amount I would be inclined to buy another at the current price and return it for a refund with the original receipt.

Why not just return the original with the original receipt?
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

I am assuming it has been used, otherwise ofcourse this would be the solution.

At stores I've worked at, there have been policies like a seven-day-price match (if the product drops in price within seven days they will refund the difference). I don't know if Sainsburys have anything like this or how long for but it's definitely worth going and asking them.

Hopefully they will make the goodwill gesture, but I actually agree with the poster who suggested buying another one and returning it as an unopened item with the two-week old receipt if they don't. It works within the store rules and no one loses anything - the shop gets a new unopened product back within the time limit set out and the customer gets the item at the current price. While it may be taking advantage of the store's policies a little, I think the word "immoral" is a little overboard considering the circumstances (IMO the store should refund without this being necessary as the situation is clearly something that would upset their customer). But I suppose that's down to your personal ethics! There's probably a 21 or 28 day limit on returning unopened items though, so you would need to be quick to do that.

Don't forget you've no legal right to return the original coffee machine.
