I have had trouble with Sellers waiting 7 days to post too.

I think that this is reprehensible. Even if someone works Monday to Friday, there is always Saturday.

Moglex - yes, if they state 'only able to post out Saturdays', or 'can only post out Tuesdays and Fridays', that is no problem. A lot of Sellers just sit on the money and don't care two hoots about the Buyer.

They lie through their back teeth. They will state in an email that the item was sent out today by first class post. In an email not an Ebay notification. 10 days later and frantic because nothing has arrived, it turns up on day 11, having been posted out second class seven days after the email was sent.

EBay have limits on both and and anyone one who leaves is for 7 days in both instances is being rude and disrespectful. Do as you would be done by!

As a seller you will get from me the invoice after 2-3 days if you haven't paid by then (in most instances the invoice is excess to requirements) on day 5-7 you will get one reminder and on day 8 you will be negged and a NPB lodged. If buyers don't want to pay there is nothing I can do and chasing them up is pointless.

Of course there are exceptions to every rule but those are normally sorted out by good communication.

I'm with you Hintza, my post was slightly (only slightly) tongue in cheek, not all sellers chase buyers for payment and not all buyers are slow payers or pains in the butt. There are two sides, lol.

Waiting 7 days for you to post out is appalling. Why do you wait so long to post?

I'm sorry, but you think you should be able to fanny around for up to 7 days for something that you can do online in 60 seconds with paypal, yet as soon as you've graced the seller with your payment they should jump up and run down to the post office? Stinks of double standards that a bit - its far far easier to quickly pay for something with paypal than to get to the post office for most people.

The only time I don't pay instantly for an item that I have won is if I'm not at the computer at the end of the auction and if I Buy it Now then I always pay straight away.

Last week I sold some old clothes and the payer paid staright away, I wrapped up the items and put them onthe sideboard to take to the post office the next morning but then we foud out that my Great Uncle had died and I totally forgot all about the items. When the funeral was all over, I spotted them on the sideboard and I emailed striaght away to explain what had happened and the buyers were happy enough. I had offered them a refund but they all said no it was OK.

The longest I have ever had to wait for payment is aout three days. I will be happy enough to wait for up to 10 days as long as I have a satisfactory explanation as to the delay. I never wrap anything until payment has cleared and I always take it to the post office the next morning unless I happen to be going into town later int he day.

We do have a slight mail problem here as I live on an Island and the mail goes on the plane and sometimes the plane doesn't go but it is very rarely that happens and I always email my buyers if it might be late. I haven't had any problems with anyone so far. Maybe I have just been lucky.

No, I didn't say that at all!

I usually pay immediately, or within 48 hours.
The only times I have had to wait to pay a Seller is when paypal have wanted an expanded use number on my paypal account.

Even when an item is paid for immediately, I have had Sellers wait 4/5/6/7 days to bother themselves to post it out to me. These are Sellers who don't say that they only post on certain days of the week.

Sellers have a duty of responsibility to the Buyers, but most of them don't see it that way.
The business sellers are no problem at all - they send out immediately.

As a seller on Ebay. I will state in my auctions as to the time i will allow before reposting the item. If i say payment within 7 days on the eighth day i relist. I also say if theres a problem please contact me and we can work things out, the reason being, as a seller i dont know if you are going to pay for this item so i dont want this item to be in limbo for god knows how long so by stipulating a time to pay i am in control.

If you pay instantly or within the time frame i would also send the goods out asap. after all if im buying something i dont want to wait a few weeks to receive the item, I just can not understand people that buy things and wait a week to pay for it. I can understand that some people have to wait for wages to cover the payment but a simple email telling the seller this will put everyones mind at rest.

Crystal balls are not freely available to everyone. Meaning sellers or buyers are in the dark without communication, it works both ways. The same goes if you are interested in another item a seller might be selling, it may be finishing in 2 days, The seller does not know this but again an email stating your intentions will be enough for any seller.

One more thing, if you are a seller, i will send an email stating your item was posted today this also tells the buyer its on its way. Dont wait a week to send an item someone has won, would you want to wait 10 days for delivery. put yourself in the other persons shoes..

Just thought i would add my thoughts on buying and selling on Ebay.

Just had another strange Seller - but from the USA - a prolific Seller with a huge business turnover.

Paid for the outfit on 1st May - Global Priority Mail - it should have been here by now.

Got an email this morning with the tracking details - it was sent yesterday - 12th May - 11 days after it was paid for.

In general American sellers send out immediately but this one did not.

as i have said before and i will say again its all about communication...

i have had some brilliant transactions both as a seller and buyer and these have been where communication is constant, however i do get the odd transaction that doesnt go to well..

as a seller i... email once they have paid, they have 7 days, email once i have posted there item, leave feedback, and email after they have left feedback. If they pay the same day and the post office is still open its posted the same day, if that isnt possible its the next day/working day. When unfortunatly things end on a saturday and its bank holiday monday i put that into the listing and post on the tuesday morning.

as a buyer i... pay as soon as the auction ends or if i am at work then the evening, i then email to say i recived the item and then i leave feedback. I however know people have other lives than ebay so i dont mind if my package takes up to 14days to arrive, if it was an important item (ie present) i wont buy it on ebay. However its when it reaches 14days and they havent emailed me and i have no package. So i polietely email them and they usually have a genuine reason... if however they dont email me back i try again 1 day later... if again there is no answer i will open a item not recived dispute.
