I have had a problem, in the last two months or so, with British Sellers on Ebay.
You win an auction, the Seller sends an invoice immediately, which is fine.
Ebay allow 7 days for payment.
On day two the Seller starts sending emails saying that payment is overdue, and demanding payment within two days of the close of auction. By day three they are threatening to leave negative feedback etc. and demanding immediate payment!
I usually have paid by day two at the latest. However, this week is a case in point. I went to pay by paypal on Monday and they are wanting an expanded use number, which will take until tomorrow to arrive into my bank account, just four days after the close of the auction.
Most people who have bought from me have not paid until day 7 and I have no problem with that, since it is within Ebay guidelines.
Do you have problems with Sellers demanding payment in 48 hours?

            No.
There may be a few who don't understand the ebay rules.
Either you have just been unlucky or perhaps you are buying from a catagory that attracts numptie sellers.
Also, I notice that you say you are having a problem with 'British' sellers. Does that imply that you are outside the UK?
A lot of sellers seem to have a disproportionately high number of problems with US buyers who cause problems because they seem unaware that there are other countries in the world

Buyers! They don't pay for 7 days and then start emailing you on day 8 asking where their item is saying 'I won this item 7 days ago' , don't they know we have 7 days from payment to post!!
And then they mark you sown on your stars for slow dispatch!! Buyers!!0 -
The problem shouldn't exist as much as it does. For example, when i win an item i want the item as soon as possible so i pay instantly, it never seems to matter though most sellers i've bought from take ages to send and are fully deserving of a neg (6 weeks for item saying it'd be sent 2-5 days from auction end) or 15 days for a small item that said it'd be sent on day of payment and was being sent from somewhere 15 miles from me, they never get their neg though such is the flaw of the system as i'll only get a retaliatory neg despite keeping to my side perfectly, Blind feedback is needed . However i understand that financially we can't all always pay for items instantly and as ebay allows 7 days so should the sellers. I've also experienced what you're saying Flo on my one and only week of selling (was just some stuff i'd bought in error a month or so before) where payment was made a few days after, late at night and i sent the next day and by mid afternoon had an email from the buyer asking why the item hadn't arrived. TSFE and it's not exactly an intelligent game.Bought, not Brought0

No, I am in the UK.
The category is clothing.
The professional Sellers, with shops who have a 'business' are no bother, it is the others that are a pain.
I had posted yesterday about problems with Customs charges, it was just to clarify!0 -
This is really all about best practice, pay straightaway and post straightaway.
EBay have limits on both and and anyone one who leaves is for 7 days in both instances is being rude and disrespectful. Do as you would be done by!
As a seller you will get from me the invoice after 2-3 days if you haven't paid by then (in most instances the invoice is excess to requirements) on day 5-7 you will get one reminder and on day 8 you will be negged and a NPB lodged. If buyers don't want to pay there is nothing I can do and chasing them up is pointless.
Of course there are exceptions to every rule but those are normally sorted out by good communication.0 -

If I paid you for an item today I expect that it is posted out to me tomorrow, or the day after at the latest.
Waiting 7 days for you to post out is appalling. Why do you wait so long to post?
I have complained to Ebay about this in the recent past.
As a Seller myself I post out the same day or the next day, if paid in the evening. As a Seller, as soon as that payment has been made into my paypal account, the item(s) belong to the Buyers and it is my responsibility to post that item out asap.0 -

I agree with you entirely on this one!0 -

Oh how I agree with this!
How often do we get appallingly bad service from a Seller but know that we cannot leave negative feedback because of the retaliation.0 -
The worst Buyers are those who wait 7 days to pay, then pay by paypal echeque which can take another 14 days to be paid!
Or send a cheque on day 7, which would go into my Halifax account, which takes 5 working days to clear, all mentioned on my listings. Then they complain because I haven't posted out! I only post out once the payment has cleared.0 -

Not all sellers can get to the post office every day.Madam_Arcati wrote: »Waiting 7 days for you to post out is appalling. Why do you wait so long to post?
This should not disqualify them from selling on ebay.
However, a good seller will make it clear in their listing if they only post out on (say) Saturdays.0
