Just went in to my account to change Dd bank acc number and my normal £140 dd changed to £330. I didn't go ahead with it. Has anyone else experienced this. Last bill I was around £24 in db.
Regards

Have you read the meters lately? If you are in debt in mid winter then suppliers will tend to increase the DD, most like customers to finish the winter (say March bill) still in credit.

No, no one else. Eon do not change the requested monthly payment simply because you request to change the bank account that is used to make those monthly payments.

If the supplier thinks you need to pay more monthly, they will think that no matter which bank account the money is to come from.

I suggest you contact Eon today and discuss the situation :)

    Hi wendb69

Don't worry, we won't change your Direct Debit without letting you know first.

Our Direct Debit arrangements are calculated over a 12 month period. We only review this twice a year and only after a bill is issued.

At the six monthly review, we may propose a change if it looks as though your payments aren't covering ongoing usage. This will be aimed at making sure the account reaches its annual review date with as minimal amount of debt as poss.

At the annual review, we'll look at a full 12 month period based on your usage over the previous year. If we need to make a change, we'll write to you giving you notice of any proposed changes.

When going online to amend Direct Debit details, our system automatically re-calculates what it thinks the monthly amount should be at this point. This is for info only and will be the amount needed to achieve as near to a zero balance as possible by the annual review.

These figures can be a bit skewed, particularly if the annual review is imminent. It may not take into account pending payments or actual usage if we haven't had meter readings for a time.

The calculation will also take into consideration any outstanding balance on the account.

If the annual review falls fairly soon, the proposed amount is sometimes a bit of an anomaly as it will look to recover both any outstanding balance and estimated usage over a short period. Please ignore this. Your payments won't be changed except under the circumstances described above.

Sorry for any confusion our online service caused but hope this explains what happens.

Thanks for your reply. So what should I do to make sure my normal £140 is taken and not £300+. Call them?

    Hi Wendy

We'll let you know a couple of weeks in advance if we're proposing to change your Monthly Direct Debit. If you haven't heard from us, it'll be the same as last month.

You can check this online by logging in to your account and clicking on Direct Debit, then click Amend Direct Debit. The next page will show your last payment and the next due payment.

By all means, give us a call if you're still unsure, or drop an email to the address in my Profile. I'll be happy to check for you.
