Mind you, from conversations I've had with those in the trade, being approved is sometimes/always no more than a money making scheme, presumably the installer pays the manufacturer to be on the scheme.

Incorrect. E.g. In case of Vaillant, attend products courses then become Advance installer at no charge.

Not incorrect. What I said is true for one manufacturer. But it is reassuring to hear that is not the case for Vaillant.

    Not so at all!

All manufacturers courses or qualifications are only additional knowledge to get manufacturers approvals for their equipment ;)

GSR for RGI's is the only specified legal requirement:)

For benefit of all, which boiler manufacturer would that be?

This part is no longer manufactured so the whole thing will need replacing and I have been saving up for this over the winter.
just to add that the chap who said it was safe to use is a british gas man so is registered gas safe.

Thank you for the link to the spares but that part doesn't fit - already tried. My boiler needs a valve with the connectors on the bottom which is the discontinued version.
What is the source of your information that the part is no longer available? If it was BG, then I believe that you would still be in with a chance
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

Inlet connections can be adapted to suit possibly, just by a slight minimal pipework alteration?

Difficult to compare as they are nor like for like i.e.
    1. Magnetic filter inc? What brand?
    2. Not all include TRVS or differ in number.
    3. Make of controls?
    4. Length of warranty?
    5. Is the flush a powerflush, mains flush?
    6. Disposal of waste?
    7. Scale inhibitor device?
    8. Notification to Building control?
    9. Condensate waste? To where?
    10. Completing Benchmark?
    11. Upsizing gas supply?

Would recommend Vaillant over the other 2, and the Vaillant Plus over the Pro (Quotes 1 and 3). Avoid the cash in hand Quote 4....avoiding the tax man perhaps?

Have any of the RGIs been recommended to you? Did they test mains flow and pressure?
