Cash Advance charge on charity donation?
Comments

Thanks Zerog. Will pay both the advance amount and the fee (and a bit more) to cover it all.
Thanks for everyone's help.0 -
A little aside, are you sure that these scratch cards were being sold by the 'alleged' charities. Be aware that many organisations sell these things and if you read the small print you'll find they only pledge to make a donation to the charity, which can be small, and they pocket the difference, pat-pat! (sorry ASDA).
This is akin to the charity christmas card racket, only a small amount goes to the charity.
If you really want to 'do your bit', they'd be much better off if you gave directly to the charity. The bankers stole my pension (and everyone else's). It should have earned a lot of money, but they took their bonus pot first.0 -

I'm not sure that's correct. You won't pay interest on the cash advance FEE...
The OP hasn't divulged the card provider (not sure why?), but assuming it's MBNA for example...3.2 We will charge interest on all transactions, handling fees, foreign exchange fees and on interest you already owe, at the interest rate for the relevant transaction type0 -
Depending on the card*, you may need to clear the entire balance (including any/all purchases balance) plus a bit extra. Will pay both the advance amount and the fee (and a bit more) to cover it all.
This is because some card providers apply your payments to statemented balances first...and the cash advance may still only be a 'recent transaction', rather than be shown on your statement.
* Best to say what it is in your OP, rather than have people guessing and/or making assumptions.

Apologies, yes that would be useful!
It's a BMI Card provided by MBNA. The transaction and the fee is already showing on my online statement. My actual statement won't be produced until the 14th. Then payment is usually taken on the 1st of the month by DD.0 -
That's not a statement...it's the list of 'recent transactions' I referred to earlier. The transaction and the fee is already showing on my online statement.
But now you've confirmed it's an MBNA card you don't need to worry about clearing the full balance according to the T&Cs on their website (see condition 4.1). Of course you should check your personal T&Cs (as they may differ) to be sure.0
