Vent - Vodafone website 'only works on Internet Explorer'

For some time now I have been having recurring problems logging into my account on the Vodafone website, which I need to use to see my bills (the joys of paperless billing
): every few months I find that I am unable to log in, despite using the right details, and have to contact Vodafone to get them to reset things. I then go off and use my account for a few months, until it goes wrong again.
Yesterday afternoon I had the same problem yet again, and contacted the customer service team to have things reset - again. This time I was told that the reason I am having problems is that the Vodafone website has been designed to work properly only on Internet Explorer - and the latest version of IE at that - and that I 'can expect problems' if I use any other browser.
I can't believe that any modern company would deliberately set up their website so that it only works on one, specific browser, not warn customers that this is the case (I can't see anything on there to indicate that they have a preferred browser), and then shrug when customers try to use something else and experience the problems they are apparently well aware of.:mad::mad:
Vent over. Sorry.

Tried Firefox, tools, view page in IE?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I must admit I never knew you could do that! Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be an option on my version of Firefox - I'm on v. 19 - which is a shame as it sounds like it could be a good solution.Back after a very long break!0

I can understand the single browser thing as it reduces their tech support workload, but it's also against the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) guidelines which recommend that websites should support as many web browsers as possible.
It does sound like laziness on the part of Vodafone's IT and web people as well.
I wonder if they have any disabled customers who use accessibility add-ons on their computers that work better with Firefox or Opera than IE because the makers of the latter 2 are actually far more open with their developer support than Micro$oft.0 -

Are you able to upgrade to the latest version (I'm running Firefox 18.0.1)?0 -

I think I'm on the latest version of Firefox already, actually - I've got 19.0.2 - the CS guy I spoke to seemed to think that my having the latest version was part of the problem, although this has been going on for so long that it can't be the whole problem.
I will use IE if I have to, but I much prefer Firefox: it also means that I can't access my account from work (should I ever need to) as we're not supposed to use IE on work computers. (But that's a whole different rant, which I won't go into here!)

The Vodafone site has caused no problems for me using Google Chrome(without using the IE compatible add on) but I keep IE working as well as Chrome in case of things like this0

I use firefox and chrome.
Always had a problem logging into vodafone, I did complain and they closed my online account and set up a new one. They said they needed to make a change to my account, did this through online chat went to 2nd tier support. Now works.0
