Amex Instant decision

Hi all,
I have applied for the Amex Costco card and I've heard that Amex give instant declines for people they won't accept. I didn't get the instant yes or no, so would you say this is some sort of reasonable sign?
I understand it doesn't mean I have been granted an Amex but I have a household income of £70K and personal of £20k with a Costco membership since 2010 and 3 years, 7 months on my bank account.

Does anyone have any idea on the chances of me being accepted or not?
Thanks,
Jack

    Forget it you've no chance.

You have no credit history with managing credit cards on your credit files.

Also what you said in your first post was wrong as many amex applicants get declined after they've been referred online.

It means nothing, You don't have chance of getting accepted for one of their credit cards with no credit history, maybe one of their charge cards but no credit.

Another thread- I didn't think I would have any chance, but I thought I would have a go anyway- Probably put a mark on my credit record but it's done now- I'll stick with what I have so far for now

Chances are it's a no. I was going to apply for this card but the customer service lady at costco said quite a lot of applications they put through for it get turned down.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained I guess.

You could do? I was referred and accepted on Amex, all it means they could not access your credit file at time of processing. Clearly I am not referring to any of your financial situation. If you have had no credit card that will count against you. Try getting credit card with a bank you already have a relationship first.

Thanks! I doubt I will get it and I will be surprised if I do, but it must be a good mark on my report if I were to somehow get an Amex.

Other lenders wouldn't know you had an Amex if you got approved'which don't want to put a damper on things but I would say its a 99% decline'

Yes, I figured it would be pretty much a definite decline, being that they are more for people with excellent histories. Ah Didn't realise companies can't see what you already have!
    Thanks!

Not quite true if its one of the charge cards. Its only going to be an Amex or Diners if its a charge card.
