Yes but it will be down has credit card account not Amex credit card.

Other lenders won't know you have a barclaycard neither when it hits your credit files.

Don't they only do instant decision on weekdays between 8-8 or something?

My apologies, well said. New lenders don't see the names of the financial institutions on your file.

What about when searches are performed? Do new lenders simply see a search for a credit card rather than a search for an American Express credit card?

Just a credit search not the name of the company you've applied for.

That is correct for Amex.

If they have a lot of applications it won't work instantly either.

I see how it works, Well I know I most likely won't get it anyway but the thread has definitely helped me understand the application and checking process!

Not really, I received an instant acceptance on a Sunday.
