leadhead
After phoning Sky to register a new box and pair up the card, the guy at Sky offered me free movies for a month(which he would put the cancellation in for me there and then), or for 2 months (if I wanted to cancel myself after 28 days)...and then offered me a free Wireless Dongle to receive "On Demand".....he said the offer only started that day(Thursday)......
The normal price of the dongle(he said) was £21 ish...
It takes around 5 days to arrive....

Its not a dongle, its a wireless connector that links to your broadband.
The price was correct however, if you don't want to wait its a simple matter of connecting the Sky+HD box to your router using an Ethernet cable.
Ideally you also need an unlimited broadband contract if you want to avoid nasty surprises with the On demand service. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Yes...I know ALL of that......its a wireless dongle...a wireless connector....the two are the same!!!!
and its easy to connect via a wire if both are in the same room....if not............then the dongle maybe the better solution...
I was merely letting people know that a wireless dongle is available free from Sky at the moment!!!!!
Addendum from Wikipedia
A dongle is a small piece of hardware that attaches to computer, TV, or other electronic device, and that when attached enables additional functions such as copy protection, audio, video, games, data, or other services. These services are available only when the dongle is attached.Couponing....."every little hurts"

Actually the Sky wirelss connector is a separate box that has its own power supply, hardly a dongle. Some may have been led to believe that the addition of the dongle provided access to On demand, which on it own it does not. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

In the interests of peace and harmony, I've found the pdf for the Wireless connector.

I set one up on a friends Sky+HD box, works very well..That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

A 3G broadband stick is a "dongle".
A wireless adapter for a computer is a "dongle".
However, if you sent someone down the shops to buy "a dongle", they'd most likely come back with a 3G broadband stick.
It's like "hoovers".
A "Hoover"-branded vacuum cleaner could be referred to as a "hoover".
A "Vax"-branded vacuum cleaner could also be referred to as a "hoover".
If you sent someone to the shops to buy a "hoover", you might end up with a Vax one.
Specifying specifics is the key, specifically.0
