Can you pay a water bill over 12-months?
Thames Water gives us 8 months to pay for 12-months supply, but gas, electric and even council tax can be paid over 12-months.

I wouldn't see why not, I pay over 12 months with my current supplier, I would phone them, as their website doesn't seem very forthcoming with payment plan information!!DFD 1st January 2016
Total Debt £4600 01/01/2013
£4100 15/11/2013 01/11/15 £0 :j0 -
would you say the slime at Thames Water dont advertise it as they dont want their customers to take it up and they dont have my best interests in mind?
I guess they are too busy minimising their tax liabilities by offsetting the billions they put on the balance sheet to buy TW.
I think TW is now owed by a bunch of aussie, arabs and spaniards in an offshire complex structure. What is this country coming to?

Whoa there, boy.
You are simply begging for the water-company lovers on this forum to have a go at you.
Thames Water may be useless and incompetent, and they are: and they may be knowingly wasting hundreds of thousands of gallons of water per day - and they are - (I used to work for them. ) but they do not get any more from a years charge divided by 8 payments, than they do for a years charge divided by 12 payments.0 -

oh yes they are useless and incompetent - thank you. I forgot that.
the time value of money they benefit from.
as an insider, can you say why we can switch water companies?0 -

It's easier to bulk-transfer electricity and gas from one area of the country to another. With water, in bulk, it's heavy stuff and most of it is used within the catchment areas (river valleys and plains) that it falls in i.e. most of it is extracted from rivers. So you can only use water from your local water co.
Thames Water's water is extracted from the Thames Valley, (with some from the River Lee - Edit: this part might not be correct, I think the Lee is too polluted now), and a little from boreholes in Kent.0 -

Thanks for posting this question, crisp, and thanks to vader and RonniesMummy for their sensible replies.
I got an answer to this years ago when South Staffs said I had to pay within 8 months. They set their debt collectors on me and said they would make a court claim against me (for charges I hadn't yet incurred), and so I invited them them to do so. Not only did they fail to follow through on these hollow threats but the letter I got back from a managerial geezer told me I would be allowed to pay monthly due to my confusion over the matter(!?).
And now I won't pay them anything.
Did you hear the one about Severn Trent and the DWP conspiring to defraud a friend of mine out of their benefit money? It's around here somewhere, but two DWP barristers got well shamed by the judge and every stolen penny had to be given back. If it were you and me that did that we'd both be in prison.0 -
