Can I end my orange contract early?

Options
I'm around 16 months into a 24 month contract with orange, paying £26 a month.
However, I am just not happy with my phone anymore, it runs slow, battery life is awful and my signal is awful! It is a blackberry, so that's understandable

Is there any way I can end it early? I don't think I can last until December with this phone?

Also, has anyone done this, if so around how much would it be likely to cost me assuming my contract finishes on 4th December

Thanks!

ask about an early update , may involve buying out the remaining months

buy a cheap PAYG phone and use that until the end of your contract

Yes, it's no problem to terminate early. Contact Orange and tell them you wish to do so, they will work out what you need to pay to clear the minimum term requirement, once you have paid it you are free to leave them or even start a new contract with Orange again.

    26*9 = £234

You may well get a slightly lower figure than that, as some people who have terminated early seem to have managed to get them to calculate the ETC roughly minus VAT.

As stated above though, the cheaper option would surely be to buy a sim free phone and use that for the remaining duration of your contract.

Death or bankruptcy are also possible options to break your contract without financial penalty.

Orange do a chunky discount for early upgrades; I think I got about 20% off the final 3-4 months last time...
Based on that, OP, you could probably get your early upgrade from Orange for under £200.
Still much cheaper to get a cheap PAYG phone to tide you over until your actual upgrade comes.

This is incorrect information, you can early upgrade at any point after you've had the contract for 6 months.
