I use ipage for webhosting, might not be the quickest but it has a lot of features. Had no issues in 3 years."I AM DEATH, NOT TAXES. I TURN UP ONLY ONCE."- Terry Pratchett0

I've found Hostgator really good http://www.hostgator.com/. A US company but works out at about £2.65 a month for unlimited disk space & bandwidth.0

Sorry about the late response. Wasn't expecting so many responses, so quick. The website is written in PHP and my boss has FTP access, owns the domain and website as far as I know. Will a basic hosting package be ok for a PHP website?
My options are:
Godaddy £1.99/m - a few users say to avoid
Croxhall £2.42/m
Vidahost £2.99/m - 2 votes
Layer 7 £1.40/m - $25/y
Emonsterhost £5.34/m - $7.95/m
Esphophosts £2.99/m
CSNewMedia £4.95/m
iPage £1.98/m - $2.95/m
Hostgator £2.65/m
Layer 7 seems to be the cheapest by far. Am I missing something or is there any other reason not to try them. iPage is my second choice.0 -
2 more for the mix, both been very good...

These are some bits of info that helped me make my decision:
USA hosting may not be ideal because apparently even the slight delay in loading pages could have you penalised by Google.
I don't think it's certain, but many people recommend UK hosting for UK website. For me even the slight possibility of a penalty from Google was enough, there's so much choice out there.
Also overselling can be a problem, particularly with cheaper hosting companies, where they sell more space or bandwith than they actually have which can cause problems.
Unlimited plans are just gimmicks, all it means that when you reach their 'fair use' limit they will stop your usage.
C-panel is very good compared to other admin panels I used, as is something like softacolous that lets you install platforms like wordpress or a shopping cart very easily.0 -
