Broadband using a dongle

It doesn't normally take 8 weeks to get a line installed? It can be as little as 3 weeks. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I use the 3 dongle...once you have the dongle the ongoing cost is £10 pm for 1gb of data.
if you can CBA then quidco are giving £12.50 cash back so effectively 3 will give you free broadband and £2.50 a month/every gb you useNiftyDigits wrote: »That is perhaps if you cannot track down a PAYG data SIM for less than half of that price.
I'd be impressed if you could find a cheaper deal than free broadband and the mobile company give you £2.50 a month/gb0 -

go to quidco.......from there go to the 3 website.......buy a one month/1gb data sim......it will cost you £10......then 3 will give you £12.50 cashback via quidco.
net result, free broadband and 3 give you £2.50 every month/gb.
Note that if you buy multiple items in the same transaction on the 3 website you only get one lot of cashback so you have to buy each sim on a separate visit.
Make sense now?0 -

Not at all. I don't see how they are giving anyone £2.50 every month/GB.
The actual cost for the 1GB/1 month SIM is £7.99 per month and the CashBack available via Quidco is £25.
As to your suggestion of Three allowing you to open multiple one month contracts and to pay cashback on them all.... seems unlikely.
So, in effect, three months free.....but, useless without a modem or 'MiFi'.0 -
If the cashback does apply to a PAYG SIM which I really doubt then TopCashBack are offering £13.17 for PAYG mobile BB purchases.
I suspect they'll only pay out for Dongle + SIM as I've never seen a cashback that exceeds the outlay price.
If they do pay it then you need to spend all day on the computer buying SIMs - you should be able to manage a few £000 a day for your efforts.0 -
Just to confirm, I took a punt at the beginning of the year, and bought an O2 dongle+ 1GB/3mth sim (£22 reduced to £10.32) , also a 1GB paygo sim from 3.
Both have paid out via Topcashback, £25 from O2 and £13ish from 3.
The thing is, it's what I needed at the time, also be careful not to be too greedy.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

You should have gone for the Pocket Hotspot. Paid £37 and got £25 cashback. Less than £6 to unlock and now using it on my travels.0 -

you are missing my point, the ones I'm using are stand alone data sims, pay £10, get a sim that is valid for the earlier of one month or 1gb from the time you start using it.
When it runs out, you buy another one. No ongoing contract involved.
Buy it, use it, throw it away and buy another one. Each one you buy will cost you £10 but attract £12.50 cashback hence my statement that 3 are giving me free broadband and a £2.50 contribution to my beer fund for every month/gb I use their service0 -

No I shouldn't, your deal is ok for your needs, no use to me.
Mine was for a one off use.
I've now got an unlocked dongle (unlock =£0) if I should ever need one, and £18 in my pocket.Move along, nothing to see.0
