Have changed passwords for my paypal, as well as my facebook and hotmail just in case.
Is there anything else I can do security wise?
Paypal offer two-factor authentication. I have it set up with an app on my phone which replicates the behaviour of a hardware token, [STRIKE]but that doesn't seem to be obviously on offer these days[/STRIKE] which is undocumented, but discussed here and here. They also support "we will text you a code when you log on" which solves most of the problems.
Passwords are dead, it's just that the stench hasn't yet got bad enough to stop them from being used, so two-factor is about the only game in town at the moment.0 -
I just wanted to update for anyone else looking for info on this scam.
Paypal have already proceeded to refund me for both of the fraudulent payments.0
