O/S Daily Saturday 09th March

O/S Daily Saturday 09th March This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well”

I Got up about 20mins ago, I know its early, But I don't mind getting up at 5:00am, Its the 2:00am's I'm not found of.

Today we are hopeing to go over to my wife's Nan's house for an hour or to, She has not seen the girls for a good few weeks now. So She will enjoy that. The Girls always like to visit there anyway.

Tonight we are off out for a Pub meal with My Mum and Dad, brother and His partner.
Dad's paying again. But It is a meal for mother's day really.

My wrist seem loads better this morning. Not much pain. But it dose feel very tight to move. But its going In the right way now. Which I'm pleased about.

Well I hope that everyone has a great Saturday.

    Enjoy :j:j

Great news Halight, I hope it continues. Your day sounds nice. Enjoy your meal tonight.

I woke up at 6am and couldn't get back off so thought I'd get up and do something useful. I've achieved the former.

Today, I have to chauffeur OH around. His car is going in for a service, on a retail park in the middle of nowhere. I'll need to follow him there or he'll be stranded for 3 hours.

Other than that it's a fairly lazy day. I might bake or list some things on eBay. I have a few clothes I didn't wear over the winter so that would probably be the best use of my time.

    Enjoy your day everyone.

    Morning All

Headlight - Glad you got another good night's sleep.

Dull and cloudy here so washing can go on the airers, house reasonably clean and tidy and ironing spookily up to date.

My cousin and her husband are here at the moment, we are off to the Scotland/Wales rugby today, they are supporting Wales and we are supporting Scotland. Always a good atmosphere in Edinburgh so looking forward to it. We have booked our dinner for after so no cooking here.

Cooked chicken wrapped in bacon with veg yesterday, had red cabbage with it which was lovely - I will do that again.

Hope you all have a good weekend. Take care. XX
  • Good morning everyone :)

DH is in disgrace because he set the alarm for our usual 5:30 wake up call and it's the weekend! I can never get back to sleep once I am awake, so have been doing a few quiet jobs as he is back fast asleep.

3 parcels to post for ebay today and it's a free listing weekend to need to relist some things which didn't sell last time and make a start on new listings.

I have some chicken in marinade to go in the slow cooker and some other bits to prepare for our planned tapas dinner tonight. I just need to buy some nice bread as everything else is from the freezer, fridge or cupboard.

It's pouring down with rain so, much as it peeves me, I am going to have to use the tumble drier later. It looks like the weather is set to be bad for the weekend and possibly even worse for the start of next week. Winter is back with a vengeance.

Time for some noisy jobs to wake DH up so I can strip the beds!

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep warm and safe and have a super weekend :)

I slept 'til 6, got up, made a cuppa, took it back to bed but got up at 7 as couldn't lay still any longer.
DW on, fish fed & breakfast eaten, plans for today include staying in & staying warm.
    Have a good day everyone.

  • Good morning all,
Still raining here. I think it was raining most of the night.
Wm is on. Everything willl go onto the airer.
Hubby has gone to bed. He was on nights last night. Dd is still in bed. Nice and peaceful.
Housework today for me. Shouldn't take too long as everywhere is tidy, just a dust and a hoover needed.
halight, hope you enjoy your meal. Glad your sleeping better.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Morning chums wet and foggy here in north Kent ,looking out of the window it looks more like November than March. Not a lot of global warming where I am at the moment and snow forecast over the weekend
Today I am in baking mode and will be making a Victoria sponge cake for my DGS to take with me tomorrow when I go to DDs house in the afternoon.I also want to have a go at trying to use up the little chocolate figures that I have been given (70% dark chocolate) I may grate them up and I can't decide whether to make choc cookies or a chocolate cake.I find dark chocolate a bit to bitter for me but I really don't want to just bin them, any ideas chums.I don't even know anyone who likes dark chocolate My late OH did and was always given the dark ones when I had a box of chocolates.
I have a lemon that needs using up so I may make a little drizzle cake as well.
I have a yen to fill all my cake tins today I made some small biscuits yesterday and they were fine.
The man came from the carpet shop and agreed with me that the damage to the skirting board was careless and I have managed to get a 20% discount off my next carpet which will be for my sitting room so it was well worth complaining:jI want to have my sitting room decorated in August while I'm on holiday so the carpet will be replaced after that.Lots of NSD and frugality coming up I think :D:D
Hope you all have a good weekend and if your a Mum you get thoroughly spolied. My eldest DGD is 20 on Sunday so I am hoping she will give her Mum a treat.
The best news I have heard is from my friend who lives in Dartford her DD who has gone through IVF treatment after years of trying is pregnant with twins :eek:a bonus for her DD as she never thought she would be a Mum, and I am so pleased for her and my oldest friend
Take care everyone and enjoy the weekend

Morning all, wet and soggy here too so washing will have to be on airer or in TD. Need to do shopping and then go for a haircut at 12.
Not sure what's for dinner, need to get inspired as our meals are getting very samey and dull lately. Hugs to all in need and glad you're feeling better halight enjoy the meal out. JackieO well done on getting a discount and great news for your friend's DD.
Have a good day all and stay warm :)

    Morning everyone

Jackie - such good news for your friend and her daughter, I've got friends who now have twins that are 3-4 weeks old after successful IVF - they are so blessed, they got a boy and a girl!

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Raining, dull and dreary here this morning.

Yesterday as expected was a bit of a run around type of day - but we got there in the end, boys despatched to mum and dads for the weekend, friend assisted with taking caravan from storage to the site, I took all the clothes/food needed - got everything set up only to find that the gas regulator in the front of the caravan is not working properly and we do have a gas supply but not a good one - this part went wrong last year on this same rally and we had it replaced at a cost of £100+ now looks like same thing has happened again! so not happy! Fortunately it's really close to home hence why I'm at home now - we did sleep there last night as managed to get the caravan warm enough to be comfortable. Will be going to the caravan service engineer this morning to get it booked in to get it sorted. As time was getting on last night and we hadn't eaten as I then had no cooking facilities - we did have a chippy tea - enjoyed as haven't had one for ages. Tonight dinner is provided - so no probs there and DH has had his brekkie this morning then gone to his course, I'm now having mine as I type this - very bad habit of mine unfortunately! Will do what I need to do on here, get a bath and hair wash etc, and then go to the caravan shop, once I've done that I can then come home and crack on, all the boys school shirts are washed and dried but need ironing, will have a look in the dirty wash basket and I'm sure there will be enough for another load. Did get beds changed yesterday.

Want to get some baking/cooking done today too, so have several bits and pieces I can be getting on with that will keep me busy - I'm going to go back to the caravan middle of the afternoon as we have a sherry reception that starts at 5pm and DH's course doesn't finish until 4pm so he will go straight from the course venue back to the caravan I'll already be dressed and ready to go so he can have free run of the bathroom in the caravan to get ready - am so looking forward to tonight - should be a good night, I have my camera at the ready!

Stay safe for those that are getting/may get snow!

    Keep safe and well x

Morning all, very wet here, but not too cold yet. Forecast says that to come tomorrow!
Full od cold, but much better than yesterday, so on its way out hopefully.
OH has come down here so that I didn't have to drive yesterday an has brought loads of food for the weekend, so that I didn;t have to shop. What a star. So lunch will be HM soup and dinner roast pork with loads of veg.
Will be watching both rugby matches today, but not sure what else we will do. Would be good to get some seed potatoes started on the windowsill. Struggling to find the variety I want which is really blight resistant. May have to settle for whatever the garden centre has.
Glad you're sleeping better halight and hugs to all.
