I recently had my orange account with NCO europe and it has recently been passed to Westminster Solicitors and they are being very unhelpful.
I have a £600 debt with them and I said I would like to set up a payment plan which they said I could do, however they refuse to send me anything in writing detailing the arrangement that we have agreed on the phone, they said they are a solicitors they will not send me details confirming a payment plan.
I am not happy with this, I want something in writing just in case they try something funny with me.
They were also not happy about me setting up a standing order, they wanted to take my card details and have the money taken from that each month.
Without anything in writing I don't feel like I have anything to prove I have a payment plan set up, they are very threatening...could anyone give me some advise on this?
Many thanks,

I would advise that you approach a debt management company for assitance - one of the free ones - they will most likely follow the guidelines when dealing with one of them.I am a debt counsellor working in the voluntary sector - we don't charge our clients for the work we do!0

Not your problem whether they are happy or not. All that matters is they can't help themselves to your bank account.
Never give card details to collectors or their 'solicitors'.Still rolling rolling rolling......

If they will not send anything, you send them a letter detailing the arrangement and when and with whom it was made. Post it from a post office and get a certificate of posting which you should keep with your copy of the letter.however they refuse to send me anything in writing detailing the arrangement that we have agreed on the phone, they said they are a solicitors they will not send me details confirming a payment plan.

Although it is not quite as good as them sending you a letter, if you stick to the arrangement, it should be quite good enough as evidence of an arrangement, particularly if they do not themselves challenge your letter.
Enclose a cheque with the letter for the first payment and ask them to provide bank details. There is no obligation on you to allow Direct Debit. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -

Great, thanks for the advise, I did send them an email asking to confirm the agreement but they have ignored...I also asked them to send me there bank details.
I am going to send them a letter instead...thank you for your help and advise!0 -
As well, not instead. Keep a copy of the email with your copy of the letter. It could be useful later.Great, thanks for the advise, I did send them an email asking to confirm the agreement but they have ignored...I also asked them to send me there bank details.

Hi everyone,
I am still having troubles with Westminster Solicitors, I spoke to them on the phone two weeks ago they told me they would be sending a letter to my new address about the account being passed to them and I haven't received anything.
I have tried calling but every time I do it rings once and goes to voicemail.
Most of my emails get ignored and the few that get answered I just get 'Please contact us to discuss your file'
It's very frustrating and I am trying my hardest to set up a payment plan, does anyone have any further advice? I am worried that bailiffs are going to come to my house...will this be the case?
This 'solicitors' seem very dodgy and unwilling to cooperate and communicate with me.
Many thanks.0 -
Can anyone help with advise? They just keep sending me the same generic email reply saying to call them.0

Write an old fashioned letter and send it recorded delivery, that way you can tell they have received it. Do not bother waiting for a reply, tell them how much you can afford to pay and when you will be paying, send a cheque or postal order for that amount with your reference number on and send it on the same day each month until the debt is paid. They will not refuse your money, and if they should decide to get awkward, you will have proof of sending the money and trying to sort it out.
They will not answer your letters or emails but that does not mean you cannot start to repay the debt and it will look good if it ever gets to court to show you are willing to pay.
Been here for a long time and don't often post0 -
Ok that is a good idea...I think I will do that...I am just worried that they will send bailiffs round or does it have to be taken to court before that happens? I'm also worried that they haven't changed my address, I told them my new address but they don't seem to have acknowledged I have moved, so If i am taken to court I won't receive any letters...?0

Also seeing as they don't have a website I am finding it hard to find an address, there is one floating around on the net but theses are from forum threads from a few years ago, any advice on how to get this?0
