You can't rule out the whole technological sector just because you don't understand it.
They may have had losses in 2002 and 2006 but the dividend still went up.
Vodafone are a safe bet, but if you don't want to touch your shares in a 10+ year period then I wouldn't invest in the stockmarket.
I gave my opinion and this guy responded with personal attacks (in private message) calling me old (wrong) stupid (wrong) but does not say anything of the sort in this post.
It's nothing to do with not understanding it and the 10 years example is nothing to do with how long you would hold for either, it's to do with lack of prediction and lack of the company able to grow due to it's size.
The past errors could be made again but at a bad time.
I think vodafone is a good company to invest in but i'd never call it safe and reliable, it's medium risk.
Oh i have reported you by the way mostly for your f**king duplicity, if you want come out and attack me you do it f**king public for the whole forum to see you don't act all nice and reasonable here then spam me bulls**t in my inbox.0 -

Underhand IMO.I think vodafone is a good company to invest in but i'd never call it safe and reliable, it's medium risk.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -

Would you like to float some suggestions?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

Appalling but then he is new. I always say,if you cant say it within the forum, dont say it at all.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

Some brokers have a sell on HI now. Depends whether it is one of Woodford's contrarian periods, or whether his defensive stance pays off by end of year. I'm not switching meanwhile but the fund may be too big to be nimble (but that's been said that for some years now)0 -
Of the shares discussed, I hold Vodaphone, Tesco and GSK. Would I be buying VOD today? Not sure. AS I bought it over a decade ago as a growth share (and it did).
But I do agree that perhaps holding an IT would be a better play. as it would have a lower risk than a single company share.0 -
