I agree the cards are not much use these days and, as others have said, the boxes will still show most of the channels ( not the additional six still Free To View) available without subscription even with no card inserted at all.0 -

Bit of a reversal there, why don't you just admit you were wrong?0 -

All I said originally was that the cards allow viewing of the Free-To-Air channels.
Is this wrong?
I also said the £25 cards are not illegal.
Is this wrong?
I then said the cards don't allow recording on A Sky+ Decoder unless the customer pays a subscription.
Is this wrong?
You then said I was wrong, but merely added some provisos which I had failed to add.

+1 for the Humax Freesat boxes. In fact, if you've got a recent TV, see if it has Freesat capability. Mine allows plugging the satellite cable straight into the telly, and shows all the free channels.0

We have sky TV minus movies and sports.
I want to cancel as most of the channels we watch are free view anyway.
Can you help answer the following questions please
What's the difference in channels with and without the sky card?
Is freesat any good I.e. what's available for free
Thanks0 -
Take your viewing card out and you can see exactly which channels you'll still receive.0

So would I get the same channels using the sky box as I would on a freesat box, once the sky subscription is cancelled?0

Not quite...it's slightly different. You get more shopping channels on Freesat from Sky as opposed to Freesat. Do you really want shopping channels?:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.
