Hello Techie bods! I've just had a phone call from my gran. She's bought herself a new tv and already has a freesat box. She loves her PS1 (mainly for Scrabble) but can no longer get a picture from the PS1. I realise it's all to do with connections, but I don't know what the problem is, and won't be able to get to see her until Sunday. So, before I get there, can some wise soul on here advise me what the best way to connect is. (diagrams would be good :))

Tv is a a Samsung UE32 EH5000, Freesat is a Panasonic DMR BS850. To make things a little more complicated, she's adamant she wants to be able to watch the Freeview tv through the telly as well as the tv through the Freesat IYSWIM. All advice welcome!

You could try and find out yourself what the actual connections are, instead of expecting others to search for you.

The tv has one scart socket and one aerial socket, (I assume that's av?) aswell as an HDMI(?) socket.

Yep, she has a normal aerial.

Thank you so much for your input. I know (mostly) what the connections are - the tv has one scart socket, an aerial socket and hdmi socket. The freesat box has 2 scart sockets, hdmi, and a number of different coloured sockets. However, I'm not at all techie, and so I come here to ask for advice on how best to connect them all together so a) she can watch tv both through the freesat and through the tv freeview, and b) get the PS1 working again. I do not expect others to search for me, but wanted to give as much info as poss so others may be able to offer assistance. So, if you can help, I'd be grateful. And if not, don't worry yourself.

On her old tv, she had a splitter which she plugged into the TV's aerial socket which had both the freesat and PS1 plugged into. However, as I've stated, for some reason, there's now no pic on the PS1. She tells me she's never had a scart connection (poss because she's had hdmi?) but I can't help but feel that some scart connection is required?

FWIW, I'm clueless about both Freesat and PS1 (never had them) - in fact generally clueless most of the time anyway :)

In which case it probably required tuning in...

Possibly, but new TV has "auto tuned" and neither that nor manual tune picks up the PS.

Was the PS1 switched on at the time?

    Thanks flashg67 - that's wonderful - looks like it'd do the job!
