Hi
I am moving soon and I will be doing the painting. Is there any major Do's and Don'ts as I am new to painting.
Thankyou for your time.

There are lots of online tutorials online,
Depends on what you want to paint to be honest.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
My two mantras are:
'Preparation is 80% of the work'.
'And 'one coat' paints aren't'.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Use the right paint for the job you're doing.
Don't stand in the roller tray.
Don't knock the roller tray over (as you're standing in it)
Cover anything that might get damaged by knocked over roller trays. (ie carpets)0 -
I did get a wee laugh at that one. Thank you Loracan

Exactly my first thought. Prep, prep and more prep. Make sure the walls are as flat and smooth as you can get them as any bumps will show once its been painted.
A good quality trade paint as well will make it easier (better coverage).0 -
I painted one of my bedrooms with a "one coat" a few weeks ago and it was absolutely perfect! Still have half of the tin left as the paint was the same price for 2.5 litres or 5 litres, so I went for 5 litres in case it needed 2 coats (previous colour was blue, sometimes difficult to cover), but it didn't!
So some one-coat, ARE one coat...0 -
Don't paint in any clothes that you actually want to wear in public again."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
The brand was Dulux, the one that they mix for you in the shop, in case someone is interested..0

Keep a rag by you and a putty knife. Use the rag - wrapped over the blade of the putty knife or not as required - to wipe up drips and painting over the line as you go. For emulsion paint, the rag should be heavily damp with water. For gloss paint, use white spirit.
Do not leave drips for another time, deal with them by the end of the session. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0
