Water bill

next doors unmetered water bill ls lower then my unmetered water?
why would it be and how would I get it changed.

    It could be two things.

    His property has a lower Rateable Value(RV) than yours.

    You are paying for Surface Water Drainage(SWD) and he is not.

    If his RV is lower, there is nothing you can do about it now. Check by comparing his bill with yours. It will say RV is xxx and you pay yyy pence per £1 RV

    i.e if the RV is, say, £150 you will pay 150 x yyy pence for Water and 150 x zzz pence for sewerage.

    If he doesn't pay SWD and you do, you will very probably be able to claim relief from that charge. Search SWD on this website - there are several threads.

    It could also be if there is only a single occupant in one property & 2 or more occupants in the other property. I receive a reduction on my water bill as I am sole occupier.
    The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

    I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

    That situation only happens if both properties had applied for a meter and a meter couldn't be fitted.

    It is called an Assessed charge.
