Thanks.
I have looked at other cars. I quite like Vauxhall Corsa.
I do have one very niave question to ask. My KA is 1.25, for it to be able to 'take off' better (I'm sick of taking ages to try and overtake etc!) do I need a bigger engine, or would a 1.25 in a different car suffice? Is there any engine details I need to pay attention to here?
Many Thanks0 -
OK so I guess I don't need a Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.4 unless they are considerably better than other cars. All I want is something sturdy, 5 doors, and fairly new-ish / low mileage. Would consider anything up to 2 years old I guess.
Have seen Corsa for £7,800, 61 Plate, 17,500 miles. If I got them to £7,500 then its 3K cheaper than Ford Fiesta Zetec but it is 2 years older and has done 15,500 more miles.0 -
Plenty of choice for you.
You could probably squeeze a new fiat panda under £10,500, Skoda fabia, Seat Ibiza, etc.
Or nearly new you can probably go up to a focus /astra segment car which would include the hyundai i30 & kia cee'd (with a lot of the warranty in tact).
Insurance might be a consideration as sometimes bigger cars are, strangely, cheaper to insure.
O and tour the dealers and try a few different models.
You might find an engine that suits your driving style that is smaller / nippier than you expect.0 -

Latest gen corsa was one of the worst cars I've driven, 1.4 seemed more like a 1.0. Vague steering, suspension too soft which doesn't inspire confidence in corners. Brakes were good though; fiesta a much better car. As is a fiat 500 (similar to ka) HTH0 -
I'd agree. Stick with Fiesta or as mentioned look at Hyundai or Kia. The Kia Rio gets very good write-ups (eg. http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/kia/rio/hatchback/review) or as above you could probably get a nearly new C'eed in your budget.0

You should be able to pick up a brand new non metallic 1.25 "13" plate 5 door for £11500,even from a dealer. Take finance with Ford Credit and they'll give you £250 towards your deposit at 6.9% APR so in effect you'll pay £11250. Emissions have been tweaked on the new model meaning just £30 per year road tax as opposed to £110 on the old model. If you keep the car for five years you'll save £400 in road tax on the new model. Is it really worth going for the old model to save around £350?0

here are ballpark depreciation figures for new cars http://www.whatcar.com/car-depreciation-calculator/
Personally, I would buy second hand as often too much is lost on a new one.
After having a brief poke around, Hyundai i10 and Toyota Aygo seem to loose the least depreciation in the first year.

I bought my new car through UK Car Broker and I was surprised with the savings. The deals this broker was offering worked out buying new was better than buying a used car.0

There are plenty of brokers about, all offering remarkable savings, not just the one you mention, I think you should let the readers know that , as it maybe deemed as spam considering it's your 1st posting.0
