was it a man with a van website then? I would suspect he does not have any insurance to cover damage during moves - your only route may be small claims court

Get the address from the WhoIs link that dacouch posted and then work out the cost of what he owes you for replacing the machine, less his 25 quid fee he didn't charge you.

Then send him a "Letter before Action" requesting payment of you will commence court action against him.

Give him a couple of weeks and then if he doesn't pay, start a small claims action against him.

I would also bet that he doesn't declare his earnings to HMCE, and if this is the case, he would be very foolish to risk letting it get to court just incase his business dealings became public.
