3 texting my TMobile PAYG number

I'm getting texts from 3 to my T Mobile PAYG number, recently activated, obviously inviting me to join 3 for £15 for life. They say to text STOP if I don't want any more texts.

How did they get my number?
If I answer with STOP am I making trouble for myself eg like answering spam email?
Should I complain to T Mob?

I would complian to T-Mobile, I dont think they would be to happy with 3 trying to poach a customer who has just starting using them. O.k it is a pay as you go with T-Mobile so you are not tied down to anything but I should think that having the ads on the internet is sufficent advertising without them having to send it to your phone to.

replying STOP to unwanted txt messages from retailers should stop future txts, its a pretty serious offence if they don't. It was introduced as a way of helping those ppl who were scammed into receiving X ringtones a week for £X.XX.

As to how they got your number? Our details are sold like penny sweets between firms so its no surprise how they get em

it's stopped for the mo but will complain if it goes on, to the TMob. Actually wonder how many customers it attracts and how many it just irritates.
