You can get the Samsung Galaxy Y smartphone for as little as £5 per month on a two year contract. That’s a total cost of ownership of £120. Not bad for a phone that still costs a rather substantial £74.99 at Prepaymania (and £90 at Argos).
Note that you need to be a Talktalk user in order to benefit from this package, one which was launched last year.
The package includes 100 minutes, 250 texts and 200MB data with other features including unlimited family calls, free text alerts, voicemail service and calls to customer care.
The S5360, as it is known, has a 3in touchscreen display with a QVGA resolution, 290MB of RAM, 180MB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, a single-core ARM-based SoC clocked at 830MHz (similar to the one found on the first Apple iPhone 3GS), an FM radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS,a 2-megapixel rear camera and a microUSB port.
It runs on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread with a TouchWiz user interface overlay and a 1,200mAh battery. Samsung says that the smartphone has a battery life of up to 380 minutes on 3G and weighs just under 100g.

It's cheap, but the specs are poor and it is an annoying handset to use as it's slow and the resolution is poor.

I agree with vuvuzela not the best phone but ok for young'uns, I got this phone 7 months ago on £7.50 talk mobile tarriff and receive 250 mins, 5000 texts & 500mb. I also get £165 cash back via redemption and have just received my first of £33, only 4 more cashback payments to go.

Sounds a bit of a rip off!

Why pay £120 (over 2 years) for a poor quality phone. Great android phones can be had for less than £100. There is thread on this board for the Huawei 300 which costs around £75.

The package you have been offered: 100 minutes, 250 texts and 200MB is also very poor. You can easily go over your data allowance and then they will probably charge you and arm and leg for each extra mb.

On PAYG (no contract, minimal financial risk of your phone is lost or stolen so low stress), you can get 150 minutes, 150 texts and 400mb each month free with Ovivo. And if you ever need a bit more, the prices are extremely reasonable.

get the phone an have a ovivo sim it will give the above for free
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

AGREED!!!!...sorry for screaming that one out. Always put youngsters on capped plans or PAYG deals. Ovivo is good but not enough texts for them.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
