I'm surprised they have the gall to charge a 70% premium for not a lot in money terms.
People would be far better going to John Lewis and getting the free warranty and buy the extra bits as they please at massively lower prices
Do insurance premiums not vary similarly by this much and more?0 -
IIRC there actually isn't any "premium" on Infinity payments - it's more or less the cost of all the goods and services added together and then spread out into installments (for those who aren't aware, as well as the computer it includes two years of internet security software, premium level technical support and repairs, accidental damage and theft cover, cloud backup, and a couple of other things, plus anything else the customer has personally chosen to add). If you only want the computer and not the other things it probably appears that you are "paying too much for the computer", but if the product is explained properly customers should understand that's not the only thing they are paying for.
I'm not really defending the product as I personally think Infinity is a good option for a very small minority of people (certainly smaller than the number of people the company want to sell it to!), but the idea that there is a "70% premium" on the cost of the computer is false.0
